I'm curious as to why the right bank would be different from the left bank ....:iono:

It was an early method to address uneven oil flow/pressure issues. The heads were redesigned by MY15.

Oh, OK ....... but if the heads are identical (symmetrically opposed), why would the oil flow/pressure be different from one bank to the other ..... ??

I don't know any more than that. Not enough info in the service manual and I have yet to tear into one. :(

Hi Puma,

I only too pleased to help. The larger hole goes in the left bank on all eight posts. When I say left I mean your drivers side in the USA. Later engines have all sixteen posts with small holes.
