Just had my car done at Immaculate Reflections with Opti Guard.....As its a black car it looks fantastic now. Mirror like finish. And in this wet and cold melbourne weather the water is running off as Opti Guard should.....Love it ......

I got quoted $700 for application and paint correction. You have to go to them and leave the car overnight, which was a problem for me (I live in Sunbury, they're located in knoxfield).

ChocolateNick 07-09-2012 09:09 PM

Knoxfield is close to me :)

I run a small detailing business from home here in Caroline Springs (RS Detailing) if you're interested in getting your car opti-coated? I have opticoated a few cars over the last few months using Opti-Coat 2.0 and I do full paint corrections, etc. Bit closer than Knoxfield and it won't cost you $700 to get done. If you want photos/video of my work just let me know, or search my username on Detail Paradise.

I ordered a white manual GTS a week ago and can't wait to work on it.

Any idea on what it would cost? Feel free to PM me if you don't want to post it here.

Opti-Coat 2.0 and Opti-Guard are completley different and you can not do Opti-Guard yourself. You should check your facts first.

That is 1 coat as Opti-guard was designed be be a single coat but can now be layered though in my finding I have seen less than 15% of the original layer upon using a second so see it as money no very well spent for the client.

Once again 2.0 is completely different to Opti-Guard, and also does not come with a warranty, hence the higher cost and for the more concentrated and warranted product and workmanship. Also we are a fully insured company with a proper set up shop, just for more peace of mind :)

Hey Blags I replied in my other thread, I do weekends and can work with you to find something that works out.

Thanks green_comet. I can't see how they're "completely different".... I do all my own work on my vehicles anyway, so I'm not concerned with a warranty.

Detailed 07-11-2012 12:51 AM

I completly disagree note this guy is also the same guy saying neither have a warranty :S unsure where that came from.

In my test using a PDG I find OG about double or more the thickness of 2.0

They are completely different thickness, viscocity, and "purity" for lack of a better term.

Regards,

Mitch

Hmm fair enough, I'll have to look at becoming an official Optimum applicator. I love using their gear.

Anyone not listed on our website is not a recommended applicator. You use these people at your own risk.

What is the exact difference between the two? What makes it worth almost twice as much?

Ne0 07-11-2012 11:12 PM

the problem with the internet, you don't have to pass an IQ or maturity test to post on forums:thumbup:

that may be the case but anyone who pays $700 for a clear coat also needs to get their IQ checked.

Opti-Coat 2.0.... Clear coat? Well thats the best way to explain it to retards such as yourself. :)

Easy to use? Yep!
Easy to stuff it up? Yep!
Easy to fix? Nope!

I applaud your enthusiasm to do it yourself, but make sure you do your research before jumping straight in. Otherwise youll be paying more than your ~$150+ for Opti-Coat 2.0 from USA (most places have $100 minimum purchace, plus about $50 shipping...) to fix your mistakes.... Very noticable PERMANENT mistakes...

There is a lot more to it than buying Opti-Coat 2.0 and applying it straight on your car. Do that and you'll fail big time! You'll need to buy a few more products, and some equipment to prepare the paint to accept the Opti-Coat 2.0. Not cheap....

For around $500+ to get your car corrected to perfection, then coated with a PERMANENT ceramic coating, isn't such a bad idea.... It'll stay looking great for years. Much better and far cheaper than the dealers 'protection packages' offered. ;)

$500+ doesn't look so bad now hey?.....

I'd happily pay $500.
Sadly in Perth the price is over $800.

Yeah, I used to live in Perth too, all too aware of the so called 'distance' and 'everyone's rich from mining' tax. Not as bad as things here in Darwin though! :mad0259:

$800+ is still cheaper than the dealers there! (by thousands! :bellyroll:)

Z86 07-12-2012 05:42 AM

I got quoted $850 @OPT - for two coats, apparently one coat is not recommended. That in itself is conflicting information as to what has been posted on numerous threads in these forums. So either Frank is doing a really shit job (which I doubt) or we are getting shafted due to lack of competition.

Z86 07-13-2012 09:34 PM

I guess I'd like to be lucky too.
But its ok, having my car prepared and then paint protected on Wednesday elsewhere - will post details once its done.
