Difference between "13 and "14 FRS

Hi,
I'm in the market for an FRS/86. I am wondering if there are any major differences between the three and whether or not a small issue was fixed in the later models.
Thanks

MY13 and MY14 cars are the same, 2015 MY cars got the following changes:

Valve, Intake
old SU003-00196
new SU003-04745

Valve, Exhaust
old SU003-00197
new SU003-04746

Camshaft, Intake, RH
old SU003-00180
new SU003-04741

Camshaft, Exhaust, RH
old SU003-00181
new SU003-04742

Head & Valve Set, Cylinder, RH
old SU003-00103
new SU003-04958

The old cam sprockets had some failures so they revised the design I believe. Other than that, they're all the same until the 2017MY cars that are out now.

They are all about the same.

Minor issues were fixed.

What you see is about what you get (especially pre-owned).

They changed out a couple of chassis bolts in MY14.

The taillights don't seem to leak nearly as much.

I think some MY13s had cam gear sensor issues too?

I would go with the 2014 if there isn't a huge price difference. The changes are minor, but the MY13s seemed to have the most issues of any year which makes sense seeing as it's the first year of production.

Hi thanks for the reply,
There is quite a price difference between the two. The headlights don't bother me as i'm planning to go after market.
Thanks

Early 2013's had a habit of burning out direct injector seals, but that was addressed by an ECU reflash midway through 2013.

I think in Australia some of the new ones were called MY12.

I see that @funwheeldrive got it covered.

Mine was built in April of 2013 and I haven't had any problems with it.

The 14s got KNEE PADS!

Don't you get a touch screen head unit as well in the 14 vs 13?

Yes, depending on where you were and how late a 14. They seemed to be pretty mixed for a bit there.

Didn't they dumb down the suspension after the first year, or was it MY15?

They made it push more like the BRZ.
