I saw this recently on FT86 SpeedFactory. Any thoughts?

Do you need a custom-made sequential gearbox?

VictorKassil 09-05-2016 12:54 AM

I think it would be better for when I drag race and for daily use.

if you are willing to spend more than it is to build a turbo motor on that thing then yeah go for it.

For the owner that has everything else .......

Imagine what you can do with that price...

ryoma 09-05-2016 02:09 AM

it's almost the price of a brand new 86 lol

wootwoot 09-05-2016 03:50 AM

If I buy one, could I convert it to automatic?

churchx 09-05-2016 06:13 AM

Another thing "would be cool to get" and which "i'm sure i'll never buy". Most probably if such upgrades were affordable for me, i'd be driving other car.
Toyobaru IS budget sport coupe. Unless you have race team budget and need it for specific types of racing, gearbox for half the new car price seems out of budget for 99.99% of toyobaru owners.

I love the light weight and simplicity of this car, but at some point even I'll admit it's time to move on. If you're considering buying one of these, either swap in an LS and T56 (no, that not an easy job) or buy a Corvette.

MaximeT 09-05-2016 09:11 AM

I'll buy something like that at some point.
But it's very unlikely that people will understand.

I already have more car parts than the price of the car.
And it's very cost effective as a track car.

shivaswrath 09-05-2016 10:55 AM

Might actually be good for track whores...

5% off labor day sale right now, lol...(because that helps on a $19k tranny upgrade)

Will it handle the hp you want to run? It would be a sad day if you spent $20k on it only to blow it up first run.

fang_gt86 09-06-2016 12:15 PM

If I can pick a pipedream and got $20k+ to spend on mods, I'll go for a V8/2JZ swap with OEM looks and function over this anyday... :offtopic:
