Optimal audio setup for stereos?

Hey, whats up guys!

I wanted to know what you guys believe is the most optimal audio settings, I mostly listen to hip hop and rap with lots of bass. What amount do you have the dials at for treble, bass etc. Also is your ASL set up at low, mid or high? I have a 2016 frs.

Also today i changed the car to IM from FRS, and it sounds so much better and it feels like the sound is coming from all directions, is this normal?

Thanks for your help!

Sound coming from all directions is not a sign of sound quality, music is recorded in stereo, to come from in front of you. Most cars fail this.

So your saying the music in my frs should come from the front rather than around. lol im confused man, isn't surround sound good? Do you have your frs setting set at frs or im? because to me im sounds way better?

As mentioned above....plus, the bass in the 2016 sound system is very weak. My wife has a 2015 and her's at least tried to make the poor door speakers produce bass. My 2016 with the media player didn't even try. The media player in the 2016 just boosts midbass when you adjust it.

Now my wife and I both run OEM audio + and life is good. Great sound from high to low.

However, if you just want bass for hip hop tracks, a sub and amp that takes speaker-level inputs will take care of that.

Damn that's a good idea bro! But i just got my frs and im not trying to add new things to it. Thanks for the advice, i'll definitely keep that in mind!

..But lol, i just went out to my car and tried the Im setting, and man is it a huge difference from the frs setting, for me atleast. When i meant surround sound i really mean it sounds full, which comes front the front. the Im sounds alot better to me than the frs, or tc setting for audio.

Have you noticed a difference in that setting aswell from the others?

Twinz 09-03-2016 10:43 PM

Before I upgraded to O+, I noticed that tc tried to make bass but killed the imaging of vocals. IIRC the one in the middle, not near my car so cant look now, sounded really bad.

dinfern22 09-03-2016 10:52 PM

Hahha, thats the IM one. what makes you say that one sounds really bad? LOL to me to sounds better than both because it produces more bass and its more clear aswell.

Did you have your SSP on a setting besides "powerful"? That mode is also the best sounding one for me.

Twinz 09-04-2016 12:04 AM

Tc powerful seemed to boost low bass better than any other setting.

I had a 13 stock hu with add on sub as my first configuration. Frs mode was absolutely the right mode on the 13 hu

Music isn't recorded to be surround sound. It's recorded to be stereo sound, with left and right channels in front of you. It's been that way for 65 years, and likely won't change, as that's what best mimics a live performance.

Yeah i think mine is set on tc powerfull with treble all the way up and bass turned one higher than middle. That way its not muddy but lows are still there. I plan on upgrading the door speakers and amp to a 4 channel, bridge rears to run a 10 inch shallow sub in a small sealed box.

High pass filter or lack thereof really sucks on the head unit, i notice too much bass at volume really makes the tweeters and 4 inchers crackle and maybe even some clipping. Bleh.
