Track Day Oil Consumption

Running these boxer engines hard like on the Track or mountain has anyone seen any oil consumption?
-Subaru of America states these boxer engines its normal for an oil consumption of 1-1.5 quart of oil per 3600 miles.
From what im reading (nothing on this specific forum) is that high mountain elevation changes will cause even more loss than that and these boxer engines are notorious for a good bit of oil consumption.

In the past 16,000 miles, my FR-S hasn't used any significant amount of oil.

I've "tracked" it (;)) on I-5 from Seattle to San Jose a few times ...... and driven it up some mountains ......:)

Zero oil usage DD. One and only track day, 4 oz/hr.

You're welcome, I think.

I tracked my car 1-2 times a month and had almost no oil consumption.

Weird but true.

Every oil change I drained somewhere around 5-5.5 qt of oil... so regular + track driving got me around 0.5-1 qt of oil consumption every 6000-8000+ miles.

They don't.

8-9MPG on track does.

Oh please. Of course you push it. Hell, I still run stock rubber.

Maybe it bears mentioning for comparison. I was/am running the Mobile 1 0-20.

it will probably depend on your engine and your specific conditions. I personally have not had any noticeable oil consumption after multiple track days and canyon runs. just check your dip stick every other time you fill up (or weekly if you don't drive that much)

Mine also has zero oil usage, even when trashed on track. On checkups oil level always stays same.
Imho it's still worth to halve regular oil change intervals on tracked car for proper maintenance / longetivity, as even if level same, you get more crap in oil from overworked engine and it may be more demanding for oil quality at such usage patterns.

I used to think mine had 0 oil consumption, but I kept an eye on it this past track weekend. Turns out I lose ~1/8 or 1/4 of a quart per track day. Not sure if it started recently or if it's always done that. I was pushing it pretty hard though (having some fun dicing with an instructor in an AP1 S2000). I'm glad I checked because it's a good reminder to bring some extra oil to the track. Will keep an eye on this to see if consumption increases over time.

no idea how you guys are keeping track of oil consumption to that degree, my readings are always vague as hell.

Top it off just before. Park it in the same spot after and top it off again.

Read the same side of the dipstick every time.
