Perrin Sandwich Adapter install help
Working on getting the gauges all wired up this weekend, and what should have been the easiest part (the sandwich adapter) does not fit flush.
I installed the sensors before I performed the dry fit and sure enough, the adapter doesn't sit high enough to clear the lip the filter rests on. http://virtualelephant.com/wp-conten...9/IMG_2309.jpg http://virtualelephant.com/wp-conten...9/IMG_2310.jpg Has anyone else used this sandwich adapter on their BRZ/FRS? If so, what am I missing here? I searched on the forums and google'd it, but I came up short. Most of the pictures I saw were using the Perrin Oil Cooler kit, which has an additional piece to raise the height. Hoping to sort it out this weekend. Thanks in advance. |
I am pretty sure it should have came with the spacer... how about the center bolt? is it longer than the adapter or is it the same length? if it is longer, then the spacer was supposed to come with it.

Does it have a rubber gasket at the base of it .. ??
I'd call the manufacturer and ask them if it should have a spacer. Why wouldn't they build the thing so that it wouldn't need a spacer ... ??:iono: I asked my friend ...Bubba, and he said to make a spacer out of 1/4" plywood ...... :D humfrz |
I've looked all over, doesn't look like it comes with a spacer. It definitely needs one.
The TRD adapter looks taller and likely accounts for the space difference, but it is 3x more expensive than the Perrin one. I may just have to eat the cost. |
Blitz has one that is slightly higher than the Perrin. Unfortunately they are out of stock till mid Sep.

Its not listed for our platform. See under compatibility: http://perrinperformance.com/i-22245...e-adapter.html
So you definitely need to find a spacer. I tried purchasing just the parts from Perrin before but they said they did not sell components. Not sure if that has changed. You can try buying a sandwich plate for an oil cooler and just use the spacer. Not sure if it is compatible with your piece though. MOC-SP1-FA20 for $129 here http://www.racerpartswholesale.com/p..._Plate#reviews If someones selling a used Perrin oil cooler near you, you could try using their spacer to confirm. I believe they are nearly identical to the Mocal one. |
