Toyota and GM Joint Venture

With all the talk of Toyota and Subaru's Joint Venture. The Toyota/GM collabo completely flew under my radar! GM and Toyota partnered up for the 2009/2010 Pontiac Vibe. The Vibe is sporting around a freaking 2az-FE! WTF!

And from what I gather, there is suppose to be a Toyota version of the Vibe?

I heard about this but does not interested me

I care not for a commuter car but a sports car. I'll keep my si if I wanted a commuter car

I was surprised that GM and Toyota teamed up however

I believe that is called Toyota Matrix in Canada, and maybe is US as well. According to Wiki, that is called Volts in Japan.

The 2az in the Vibe was 25 yrs ago? I wasn't talking particularly Toyota and GM teaming up, but rather their latest project.

OldSkoolToys 03-30-2011 04:20 AM

Pontiac?

What?????

Fyi, Toyota and GM have been platform sharing with the vibe/Matrix for yeaaarss now. And have been partnering for way longer.

Remember Geo's?

NESW20 03-30-2011 04:55 AM

yeah, the vibe/matrix has been out for years. dragon, you been drinking??? :happy0180:

alexmotrix 03-30-2011 08:14 AM

sorry here in Canada we got the two cars since 2003, lost the Vibe since GM closed EVERY Pontiac dealers in Canada around 2-3 years ago but for the partnership, it started in 1984 with the chevy Nova, went to the Geo Prism after and finally to the Vibe

Yea, the Vibe/Matrix has been out for a while. Worst car either company has put out in years. Bland styling plus hhorrid build quality means people buy them. Go figure. Haha. I almost bought the Matrix a couple years back, but didn't. I was still stupid enough to buy a Saturn though. :(

Midship Runabout 03-30-2011 05:43 PM

Its funny cause the saturn vue is close (kinda) to the same car as a vibe but it uses a honda motor. Haha fucking gm

Dragonitti 03-30-2011 08:02 PM

Ok, I deserve the "what you been drinking" slap...but I was more so talking about the 2az being in the Vibe. I didn't know the Vibe was sporting a 2az in it.

Guess that just means more resources for parts for me...:)

Vibe GT used to sport a 2ZZGE, that's a bit more amazing. Those guys could tell everyone that it's the same motor as the Lotus Elise. Now they just get to say it's the same as a Camry's. ;)

I usually go with telling people it's the same motor in the 1500hp AWD World Racing tC. :)
