3D designed/printed JVC mic adapter

I like clean looks. When I installed my aftermarket head unit I never liked the idea of having the mic adhered to anything. I much liked the factory mic location. For a long while though I just left the mic in the stock location with tape wrapped around it to keep it there. Lots of people complained when I would speak to them using it for various reasons. I recently got a 3D printer and have been designing things. I went ahead and designed an adapter to slip the mic into and then to go into the factory location. Everything fits perfectly, or at least to my liking.

Very happy with the fit and function. If you have a 3D printer yourself I've provided my design. If not then there are plenty of sites and places that you can have this printed for you.

Same mic as this. I think it's a pretty standard mic so if you already have a JVC then this is hopefully/likely what you already have so it's a simple print, plug, and play thing. If the mic has changed since when I purchased mine then I guess this won't be useful for many of you.

Do you happen to have the STL file or possibly another format so I can print this myself? Seems like gcode and x3d files are specific to a printer.

Thanks for posting this, I've wanted to make a solution as well. Looks like this mic is the same as the one included with Pioneer radios. I'd like the STL file as well.

I suggest a version that do not cover the side holes of the mic, this muffles sound A LOT. I have the Kenwood/JVC mic under stock grill.

Just stumbled upon this thread and I'm intrigued....
Do these new head units these days have higher quality mics to give you better phone call quality?

I don't know if I'd call it especially better. Better than the stock mic of my 2013, but I dunno if the newer cars have better mics at all.

Any aftermarket unit you get will come with a mic as well. My little design is based on a pretty standard/generic aftermarket mic.

The 13-16 head unit is pretty much the same in terms of the microphone quality and I'm currently upgraded to a pretty recent JVC android auto head unit. I can definitely say the current stuff 18-19 years in aftermarket head units is a bit better, maybe because they have noise cancelling enabled in there software or because the microphones are simply better quality, but my friends don't complain about wind noise or exhaust noise when I'm driving now.
