Air Filter Change
 

With the aftermarket intakes they all look like you have to practically remove them to get to the filter for replacement/cleaning. If not the air box at least the intake tube or am I missing something?

Many of them you can just open up the intake box and slide a new filter in. Some of them you need to remove the bumper to get at the filter.

None of them provide a performance benefit, so only get one if you want a cool throaty growl.

I am referring to the stock box replacement type.

From what I've read, even with the stock air box itself, it's easier to just take it out then trying to snap it back together under the hood.

It will snap in easy with the oem filter but sometimes requires a little persuation with aftermarket filter.

I found replacing the OEM with K&N to be a PITA.

Same for me. Different lip configuration. Requires patience and a little persuasion.

I just replaced my filter last night. Considering it was JUST an air filter, it was a RPITA. It required the intake box end of the intake tube to be removed so that the rear of the box could be opened up enough to slip the filter in and out. I miss the days of good ol' carburetors with the air cleaner just sitting on top of the engine held down by one or two wing nut(s).

If you haven't been driving long enough to remember when changing your air filter was SIMPLE, some would say your the noob.

It's really not much of pain. Just 3 bolts 2 clamps a bit of wiggle and bam. It's out. With a beer in one hand of course.

Unless your a germaphobe or can't figure out what's a socket wrench, then yeah it's rocket science.

When I swapped mine out, it took me a total of maybe 5 minutes.

No different than any other Japanese airbox-type OE filter from the past 20 years.
