Hey everyone! I'm trying to organize a drift day at the Willow Springs International Raceway Balcony Skid Pad. The Balcony features a giant tarmac that's perfect for all skill levels to practice drifting in a relaxed environment. If you're not familiar with the Balcony, check out the following video I borrowed from youtube:

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pkDD66-EuRo"]RX-8 Drifting @ Willow Springs Balcony - YouTube[/ame]

I've been to two drift days at the Balcony and I can't recommend them enough. My first drift day was the first time I ever really lit up my tires. The more experienced drivers noticed I was new and were happy to offer some pointers. By the end of the day I was pulling off figure-8's and having a blast. My next drift day was a few months later. It took several runs to get a feel for it again, but by the end of the day I linking bigger drifts and trying to use as much of the "course" as I could (http://i.imgur.com/ArRQ9X7.gifv).

But enough about me...

I'm organizing this event because the last two SpeedVentures drift days were cancelled when they didn't receive enough participants by the cutoff date. Since then, SpeedVentures stopped adding drift days to their calendar for 2016. I'm hoping we can change that!

**IMPORTANT - We need a minimum of 12 Drivers to make this event happen!**

Please respond below if you're interested. If this post gets enough interest, I can get the event added to the calendar and participants will be able to register through the SpeedVentures website.

Feel free to ask questions or share your drift day experiences below!

Happy drifting!

The track goes live at 8am and runs go until about 5pm.

I like getting to the track around 7am so I have time to swap wheels before runs start. That said, you're welcome to arrive and leave as early or late as you want.

Of course! You should be able to pull off some slides as long as the traction control is off.

I'm so pissed that my time off request for this got rejected. Next time I'm just not going to give them notice.

Do they have a tire guy?

I'm pretty sure there will be tire services down in the main paddock area. SpeedVentures is having a track day that day so they usually provide tire and other services.
