Coilovers for a 2inch drop
 

Looking for a good set of coilovers in the 1k range that allow for a 2 inch drop and still can perform close to stock. Lots of info out there I just haven't been able to find specific information. I have a stock 2015 frs. Brand is not as important as function. Yes I have searched but a lot of the info is from a few years back. Thanks in advance.

When you say "perform close to stock" do you mean feel as comfortable as stock? If so your two best bets for a compliant ride without breaking the bank are Bilstein B14s and ST. I have B14s going on this Sunday, you can't go that low on them....I'm not even sure if they offer that much drop. But they are known to be the most compliant street ride...improvement over OEM even. ST will get you there and they are pretty "cheap" at around $800.

Also 2" drop is far from mild drop. Be ready to also buy other suspension parts, eg. for roll center correction, diff rising and so on.
One can get comfortable enough ride on higher drop levels vs far from ideal stock shocks and with big enough investments, but please, don't mention "importance of function". Reducing already low stock ground clearance and shock bumpless travel by 2", at least if daily driving is considered, is far from valuing function over form. Yes, you can reach that drop goal, but be truthful to yourself & be ready to sacrifice things in process to reach your goal of low drop (probably for bling/visual "form" purposes over "function").

You're basically asking for the impossible. Two inches is a lot of drop and it will not perform close to stock. My advice, get some KW's and drop about 1" and save yourself the headache.

OP didn't specify if he wants to only slam park or permanent drop.
If permanent 2" drop, suspension will need extra working on/investments no matter which exactly coilovers you'll use, including air ones. If one cares about handling / safety / longevity of car that is.

Budget for Rear LCA's and a roll centre kit as well.

Generally dropping it reduces travel so it's going to get rougher than stock.

An easy and budget friendly option is to buy lowering springs (H&R Sport/Super Sport, TRD etc) and swap them onto your OEM Showa coils yourself via this thread. I believe H&R SS are 2"

They aren't tightly compressed and can be swung out from the tire well to switch while still connected at the hub, just releasing the tops. Little trim of the bump stop might be necessary but spring manufacturer lets you know. I was surprised how easy it was.

Not a race solution obviously but great for a couple hundred bucks.

Amputechture: Apart from roll center kit to fix handling also diff riser, or otherwise rear axles bearings will have short mileage.
