Subaru Coolant at NAPA

For those that are interested, NAPA has the Subaru-compatible blue extended-life coolant for $14.85/gallon. It is Pentofrost A3 coolant. Seems like a good deal to me. Many of us have to add coolant periodically and this should certainly work.

Also, while I was there I saw that they also carry a Zerex Asian formula coolant that meets the Subaru spec's and it is in the same blue color as well. It is pre-diluted and is only $14.49/gallon. That's about $10/gallon less than the dealer.

that's good to know. always a plus when you don't need to go to the stealership (and the fact that I live 30+ miles away from the nearest subaru dealer lol)

FWIW, Autozone also has Pentosin Pentofrost A3 which is said to be formulated for the Subaru 2009+... $16.99 list - but better than the dealer.

Seems like it'll be okay to mix with OEM coolant, but just wanna make sure, is it?

Very good find!

Thanks for the info, this helps since the OEM coolant is almost 30 dollar a gallon.
But is the life time the same as the OEM coolant? OP do you know? The OEM one last way pass 100k before the 1st flush.

The Zerex Asian formula is good for 150k/5 years. Not sure about the Pentosin but I know it is a long-life product as well.

Just remember with the Zerex that the same formula comes in both blue and red colors and not all stores with have the blue. Advance Auto only had red.

I purchased the pentosin on 10/16/16 . My reservoir was at the low mark so I filled it up to about half way when engine is cold.
When it is hot , it will be a little pass the full mark, will update if engine temps get hotter. Thanks for the heads up, the price is more affordable than the OEM coolant.

Is there any evidence from Subaru taht Pentonsin A3 and the other stuff works for Subaru cars? Claimed made by Pentonsin is a little fishy. Lots of places claim their ATF is compatible with Honda's and we know they don't always work.
