Post a pic of your installed Autopower roll bar

I have done some searching for Autopower roll bar pics on here and google but it seems most people are getting there roll bars/cages elsewhere. If you have an Autopower roll bar I would greatly appreciate some install pics for my decision making. If you have a comparable solution to the Autopower cage, that would also be appreciated.

I have their four point cage if you'd like I can snap some pictures and post them up here

We've got one in the pipeline. This thread shows some of the design & renders, and we should be starting work on the prototype this weekend or early next week.

The Autopower requires welding a plate for the front mounts. That is a key difference.

Mine's slightly modified. Added the rear X with gussets and welded the legs but it's essentially an Autopower cage.

zdr93523 08-21-2016 04:34 AM

I have the full Autopower cage. The main hoop is welded to the footer at the leading edge of the rear seat / gas tank. The door bars are also welded in.

FRS Justin 08-23-2016 04:12 AM

ok how can the bar be ahead of the b pillar on the last pick and behind it on the first pic?..... smh
The cage is not installed
I do like the design but fitment cant be determined

I think this may be a trick of perspective. But I will let Apex-Apex clarify things further. It looks fine to me but maybe it was just set in the car for positioning?

Perspective. Look at the driver side pillar on the bottom picture.

How is rear visibility with the rear X? We thought about adding that to our design (still might) but we were worried it would make it too hard to see out the back, due to how high the rear attachment points are.

I would love to see how people welded/bolted the plates to the car. Any shots of that would be helpful.

Calm down, it's installed in both pictures.

With lots of tears and cuts :( In all seriousness though, it was pretty straight forward. Remove rear interior, remove front seats, pull back carpet, slide in, install and put everything back.

Hello Jake,
I honestly can't see crap besides the little window above my X. It's enough to see cop lights, I've had experience with that.

I don't get how much more I can answer besides it's installed. Like everyone said, it's just the angle

Mine is the full cage, but the roll bar mounting points are the same as the main hoop.

Have you run into any tech issues with the cage? I noticed you're also in ST2.

Thanks!

No, the Autopower cage is NASA and SCCA legal. The diagonal bar and harness bar intersect per the rules, the number of bends in each bar complies, and the bolted area are the correct size and have the correct number of bolts. The roll bar footer and the door bars are welded in so it is not a simple "bolt-in" even though it is called one. The footer requires you to build a plinth box to fill in the triangular gaps on the sides due to the curvature of the leading edge of the rear seat base. The cage is 1.75" tube which is larger than required for the car's weight. The only issue (not really an issue) is that I have a Sparco Ergo XL and it is absolutely the largest seat you can fit in the car with the cage and you have to eliminate the slider. I'm 6'2" 225lbs and my wife is 5'3" so not having a slider requires a significant back pad. She runs the car in TT2.

Even with the diagonal bar being at an angle as it intersects the harness bar? (I have the 4pt in my car now). I've been told by NASA guys it wont pass if I turn it into the full cage.

Correct, the 4 point is not legal. The full bolt in or weld in cage is legal. They have a slightly different design. The cage diagonal is not dead straight but falls within the acceptable design per the NASA CCR.

Hey how'd you figure out where to cut your rear plastic trim so it fits around the rear post? Did you have to trim anything else to make it fit? Looks great man [emoji869]
