NorCal 86DAY - Dyno Results

Hi everyone, thanks to everyone who came out to the 86DAY celebration at Mann Engineering. I'm starting a new thread in which the folks who put their cars on the MAHA dyno that day, can share their dyno results with everyone else if they'd like to (totally optional), and list what mods they have on their car. I think a lot of people are curious what power adders will do for our cars and we had a very nice variety of cars with different mods go on the dyno that day. Rather than let these results get lost in the other event thread let's post them up here. Please photograph or scan your dyno sheet and share it here. If anyone has trouble imaging or sharing their photo/scan feel free to email it to me at pmok @ 86 drive . com and I will be happy to host and share it. (remove spaces from the email address)

-----

For comparison's sake, at a previous dyno day, Gary at Mann Engineering also gave me numbers of what a completely stock BRZ ran on the same MAHA dyno:

Corrected power: 180.9 HP
Wheel power: 136.7 HP @ 7215 RPM
Torque: 139.9 lb-ft @ 4970 RPM

Ended up with the lowest numbers for the day, partly thanks to having an Automatic, which produces a bit less hp than the manual. I guess that makes me the real winner of the day @ichitaka05

For comparing with the stock values from the first post, minus ~10hp from stock (seems to be the consensus?).

Why do you say that? You're making good power!

Just to clarify, your car has the TRD exhaust doesn't it? D-shaped exhaust tips... Seems like it's good for extra 8hp compared to my standard exhaust...

I'm pretty surprised by Genruleathumb's 86 matching close to the whp produced by the blown banana. Like how is that possible?!! Man I really need to start running e85 aha

E85 is simply amazing to me. It runs so smooth and power feels very clean. With E85 i bet most people would say the car had much better power. Feels very peppy. I highly recommend.

Yeah Ive owned the the OFT twice and have yet to run e85. I recently picked up some coils so had to sell it. But next around I'll defintely give e85 a try.

Did this last minute for S&G's and was very pleasantly surprised with my results. Granted, I came in as a pessimist, so I was prepared for the worst. Just happy I was able to drive the car home and got to verify results from a previous dyno session (mustang in "heart breaker" mode).

I've never been a big fan of dynos since it can only break your heart or give you a false sense of superiority. I say if it "feels good" and it puts a smile on your face, why try to put a number on it? Just drive and enjoy your car!

Couldn't have been around a more knowledgeable, more eager to help group of guys when the car started acting up after my pulls.

It ended up simply being one of the seven OE hoses under the throttle body that blew off. Which must have happened pretty early considering the lower than expected 275whp.

Man, I would post that dyno all over the place to silence all the WORKS haters lol. What makes it a "stage 2"? are you on 91 oct?

FFTEC in Hayward, I believe I did 212 whp on their dyno, which came out to be 285 hp "adjusted" (dynojet?). Just goes to show how varied all these dyno numbers are, which makes it more interesting when you get a bunch of cars with similar mods together on the same dyno on the same day/conditions.

Larger intercooler upgrade over their Stage 1.

Here is a great "for sale" add for an OFT. Header and e85 + OFT tune, roughly 40whp more then stock.

OFT's in stock at The Racers Line now.....:bellyroll:

Hell yea that should be there add.. Its even the E85 Stage 2 tune the OFT comes with. Nothing tweaked just off the shelf tune. Im pleased with the results. Butt dyno felt good. Glad to see it wasn't a placebo.

PMok 08-08-2016 11:38 PM

for those who are wondering what a mostly stock BRZ + E85 would do on the same dyno... these are my results from the same dyno, 2 years ago...

Corrected power: 205.6 HP
Wheel power: 157.8 HP @ 7195 RPM
Torque: 160.7 lb-ft @ 6070 RPM

power mods on the car at the time:
Propel E85 fuel
Berk Catless Front Pipe
AFe Drop-in dry air filter in the stock airbox
Perrin air inlet tube
OpenFlash Tablet, running the OTS Stage 2 EL E85 Tune
Running stock headers and muffler system

... so roughly a 20whp gain from E85 + OFT Tune.

for further details... http://86drive.com/2014/05/18/pmoks-dyno-results/

I know. I love the car.

Yes, I have the TRD catback good for 7hp, carbon fiber driveshaft 1hp.

Guess I need a clutch too.

Sooooo glad to hear it was just a hose (as suspected) and not a gasket slip or worse. Great to see an RS2.0 boosted up!

I wonder what it would have made/the difference on CARB tune vs custom tune.

With all the pipes, injectors, etc I bet the carb tune would be awful.

Anyway, where are the rest of the results? Come on guys!

Probably. But it would be nice to know if it still ran with the CARB tune after all the mods so smog wouldn't be a bitch after the 6 years no smog limit.

I think that would be irrelevant... a smog tech wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a CARB tune and a custom tune on the car. That's not the stumbling block to failing smog. The car as equipped would almost immediately fail visual inspection for all the non-emissions compliant parts on the car.

I don't think it's irrelevant that much. I know that the smog tech wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the two tunes on the car, but the sniffer that is used for the smog inspection does. We know that the difference between tunes contribute to how much emissions produced at the tail pipe for the sniffer test. Visual inspection is a whole another thing because not all places would visually inspect the exhaust system before doing the smog.

In a way, what I'm asking is, will the car run properly with the current mods on, using the CARB tune as that should produce less emissions? It could help pass smog test (sniffer portion) without the hassle of changing the parts out.

New cars don't get the sniffer. They simply plug into obd port.

Well then. I stand corrected on my previous post. I didn't notice that newer cars just use obd only and visual for smog.

Nice results people. I guess Chris in his Stormtrooper ran a pull or two but his clutch wouldnt grab..well he got mad and bought a ACT and CF driveshaft..put it in last weekend..

Took it to Sonoma drags last night and ran a 13.1x with TC on and bog off line even with a 5K launch control:lol:

Makes me wanna stop putting money into my trucks and go boosted but idk:D

So I see quite a few "catless" parts in the notes of the dynos. :\

I'm all for making more power gentlemen but you guys are putting some serious stuff into the air.
CARB and emissions aren't all about politics.

When you are standing in line at the pharmacy to buy asthma inhalers for your kids or yourself...
That 15 hp - 20 hp over the other guy doesn't seem worth it to me.

And if you happen to get the *wrong* cop to pull you over...

Section 43008.6 (a-b) allows the courts to collect up to $1,500 per offense or failure to pass smog due to tampering.
Federal Offense by Section 205 (a). The operator's fine can be no more than $2,500 and the installation agency no more than $25,000.

Fair enough.. but I'm running e85. And only missing the cat at the header not the mid pipe.. my guess is I'm polluting less than you with the e85 and 1 cat..

Gary at Mann and Bill of Delicious both said the TRD is worse than stock. Gary said they measured pipe diameter and TRD is less than stock. They think it is robbing me of 10 Hp.
