Favorite Song?

All time, or right now, doesn't matter.

People are going to hate me. My current favorite is a remake, of a classic no less. A person gets tarred and feathered for less... Oh well... Live once, right?

Sound Of Silence (originally by Simon & Garfunkel (which I love btw), covered by Disturbed. Very haunting...

With the name like Head Like A Hole, that's what you come up with? :)

Have to add YouTube links or something so it's easier for this lazy guy to listen to these songs!

:)

Plus, this way I get to pick a decent interpretation/performance. Updated. Now go spend 10 minutes of quality listening, doing nothing else. Well, breathing is recommended.

As long as you listen to some of my acoustic versions of Blue October, and the Disturbed interpretation of S&G! :)

I haven't gone looking for Blue October yet...

The Disturbed piece is quite listenable, which is not something I can say about everything people suggest I listen to. Music is a huge part of who I am, and I spend a lot of time listening, if not creating my own. That said, I prefer the original.

This starts off OK, but too much noise from post-process (the autotune is rough in places) and it's trying too hard. It's interesting and all but just too detached. Only thing even remotely pulling me in is my memory of the original. Very little texture to the actual music, just forced texture in the sounds (much of that via distortion), and it only brings up murky browns with occasional green or black mixed in - and more geometric shapes piled together than anything.

Thanks for sharing.

Had not heard Disturbed's cover, I actually like it better than the S&G original now that I've heard it.

I would be hard pressed to pick a Favorite Song of all time, as it depends on my mood.

If I had to pick one it would be "My Sweet Lady" by John Denver, primarily because it was the "first dance" at MomHawk's and my wedding. We still dance to it on occasion when no one is looking.

Beyond that, it would be almost anything ever done by Meat Loaf or Harry Chapin because I like music that tells a story. These are my two favorites from them:
