Don't panic guys these are very specific cars.

Yep, after seeing the extra info on the Australian notice I edited the OP to include that.

I saw that. Doesn't matter we could say it 1,000 times, hire a sky writer, blaze it across every screen and site on the internet and next week somebody in Donkeyville California will come on here and say "I hear there is a steering recall I hope my car is OK. What do I need to do?"

This reminds me of back-in-the-day, I got an urgent recall notice for my 1970 MGB-GT ....... that sometimes the steering wheel lock would lock up while driving and turning right...... :confused0068:

So I charted a route form the southern part of San Jose (where I lived) to the northern part of San Jose (the dealers location) ....... making ONLY left hand turns.

YES! it is a slow day in Puyallup ...... :sigh:

Thanks for that, but my car is a BRZ. I'll call them with my VIN and check today though.

Why don't US spec cars have driver's knee airbags?

Bristecom 08-04-2016 10:19 PM

I don't see why it wouldn't also effect the left-hand-drive, non-knee-airbag equipped vehicles too unless the extra wires from the airbag sensor/igniter are what is causing the electric power steering wires to rub/malfunction or something else causing an issue in that configuration. But if it's just the wires themselves, it seems like it could also happen to ours? Hmm...

Because Mr Toyoda doesn't love you!

Maybe you do, it is just the recall is for RHD with knee air bags as I assume they have isolated that particular wiring as being the problem.
