has anyone done this http://stores.mengmotorsports.com/-s...e/faq/Page.bok its looks freeking sweet, i would love the blue hvac and gauge lights to go with WRB. is it hard to find a shop to do something like this? or is this something that can be done without any experience?

Do you know how to desolder surface mount LEDs? I haven't taken the cluster apart, but I'm guessing that's what they use.

Anyway, if you don't, it's a lot easier to leave it up to the pros. It's doable, but not something I'd consider easy.

I did this on my old 09 Corolla. The do you Surface Mount LED's, and requires Desoldering like stated. But is completely do able.

I like the FR-S gauge lights though. I will be replacing the Climate control LED's though

Yea, Id do what Moto-P did and just swap the CC leds for white ones. I want to do it, but Im nervous about screwing up the board.

It's very easy! Just need a pointy tipped soldering iron. Works like a charm! :D

Grrrrrr now you're tempting me to pull apart my interior :bellyroll:

wallace03 07-07-2012 02:52 AM

considering idk what soldering is, i should probably find a shop to do this lol. not a big fan of the straight red lights in the brz. i'd actually prefer the fr-s setup, but blue would be best looking imo.

Did you just tint the back of each different area? I changed all of the bulbs in my car but that has eliminated any other colors.

I used white Leds and used blue fillers (a blue sticker) on the places I wanted it blue. All the warning light are red leds.

I had this done today. Full gauge swap and changed the HVAC to red to match the rest of the interior.

Im 100% sure its the same process as the Tc, look up the process on how to do it on a Tc. Very easy to do if you know what you are doing and cheap if you do it yourself.

Edit- Meng motorsports wanted to charge me around $700 for just my gauges plus I would have to pay round shipping and I would have to drive the car without gauges for about a week lol
