BMW repurchase was ok'd. Eyes set on FR-S
 

What's up guys! So I'm new here and I've had my eyes set on an FR-S for a while. Back in March I was working a crapload and wanted to treat myself to a nice ride. Unfortunately I got a lemon. Over the past few weeks I've been going back and forth with BMW USA. Today I just got confirmation that they will be buying back the vehicle.

So that's good new since I've been wanting to go back to JDM since the last scion I had didn't give me problems like this.

I hear quite a bit of mechanical issues here and there however and it has me a bit skeptical and thinking should I? Or shouldn't I?

Thoughts, suggestions?

Any brand new car (1st year) will give you some trouble its all part of the teething process as far as I am concerned but if you are confident that Toyota/Subaru/Scion will handle your issues in a timely manner then its fine.

I myself would not recommend getting this car right away if you don't need it. Revisions are usually better and currently with the hype you may be hard pressed to find a car.

The car is great tho just a joy to drive but it really depends on your driving style too. I don't mind shifting and like the challenge of carrying speed and being more smooth with your driving inputs and this car rewards you for that kind of style. If you are a mash your foot on the gas and pass everyone kind of person I would look else where.

I've read that quite a bit about it not being a really fast car. which, for me isn't that big a deal.. ive had two speeding tickets... so no more fast cars for a while. I think this car would suit me pretty well and will have great chance for modability!

the car is deceptive,

and holy cow does elevation make a huge difference. at 7000 ft the car was anemic at 4500 it was lethargic, at 2500 it was nearly motivating, and at sea level you can chirp the tires away from a light with out any serious hoonage, 2nd gear chirps come if you shift to provoke such a response.

all the talk about how underpowered the car is prepared me for slooooow, but it's just "not quick"
