Markville Scion Titan Vehicle Protection - Waste?
Hey folks,
Anyone have any experience claiming from the insurance sold at Toyota/scion? I just purchased it, but after signing and reading the contract (in that order) I'm seriously wondering if I wasted my money. Oh and few things that I wish I'd known before purchasing the "Titan Vehicle Protection" (which I did for 600$ including paint protection and taxes). 1. There are different packages, the "standard" does NOT include cosmetic wheel repair. I point this out because on the info display sitting on the desk of the finance rep at the dealership lists all the insurance coverages without distinction (doesn't tell you that some of them cost extra) so by looking at it you would be lead to believe that the Titan protection plan includes all the features listed...no so. (If I can figure out how to attach a picture I would -took one of it with my iphone). 2. You should read the conditions of the contract before purchasing. In the standard protection the wheel repair/replacement covers you only if your wheel is unsafe, or leaks air as a result of hitting a pot hole but no other situation. Also cosmetic damage insurance if purchased as an option covers only 100$ of repair per contract, so it seems pretty much useless since it usually costs more to do any cosmetic wheel repairs. Anyone buy it or have experience with it? |

Yep. Never have or will buy any extended warranty from dealers. The fine print has so many exclusions that it's not worth it. Plus the odds of ever needing those level of repairs based on the coverage is pretty low. Those warranties are pure profit centers for dealers, hence why they push them so hard when you go in to settle the payment paperwork. |
Not an expert, my first response Is refund if you can.
From what you posted, it smells like its a waste. I will add, they do sell 2500 dollar refundable Extended comprehensive warranty. 7 yr and 200000 km. Same coverage as the factory, which is 3yr, 60000km. Then again, I have yet to review the contract. Good luck |
Thanks for the input, I'll follow up with them and see what happens. At least I know now to avoid them in the future.
