My other vibration is starting to drive me crazy. It's somewhere near the trunk and is completely random. Sounds like someone is dropping a marble on the rear trunk lid. It's getting worse and super annoying!

You are not alone. :mad0259::mad0259::mad0259::mad0259:

That description sounds like what's annoying me everyday too.
I made a thread about it ===> Rear Deck Noise

I'm really only concern with the shifter vibration noise under acceleration and constant throttle around 4K rpm in 3rd, 4th, and maybe 5th gear. Other little buzz and noise only happens once in a while and I don't mind those since every car has some noise in the interior.

Check your trunk emergency release cable and make sure the yellow handle is FIRMLY into it's "seat"... this is usually the issue with a trunk rattle like that.:sigh:

Had already done this...honestly seems worse with it in place haha.

does anyone else have it where they are sitting in neutral with the manual and when you slip it in first with the clutch fully depressed there is a very slight notch in the transmission that seems to move the rear diff?

Have you done anything about the headliner rattle yet? I've got the same rattle right above/left of my head. With the poor response I've gotten so far from my local dealer to my other concerns I hesitate to mention anything new.

flawedchemical 08-05-2012 12:28 PM

No I haven't messed with that. It only seems to happen on roads with a high frequency roughness, so it's pretty rare that I hear it. The awful noise in the rear is the one that's driving me crazy!

Unfortunately the roads here in SC are full of that "high-frequencey roughness;" I noticed the same connection, too.

I'm not sure if this is the same noise but feel free to check my out thread. It was driving me crazy but I haven't heard anything since I performed the fix.

Solution Found: Rear Deck Rattle

flawedchemical 08-05-2012 01:54 PM

No...we're hearing a vibration right above our heads. I can push up on the headliner and it goes away. The other noise in the rear isn't a vibration, it's a loud pop or creak that sounds like a medal pendulum is swinging around in the trunk and randomly smacking around.

have you taken a look at this thread.

flawedchemical 08-06-2012 12:38 AM

Yes...I've taken a look. Can't exactly tear mine down right now. The nearest Scion dealer is also about 100 miles away so I'm kinda just dealing right now.
