Alberta Octane?
 

This has been the long debate in AB, Shell 91 or Husky 94 with 10% ethanol.
Given that 93 is recommended what have you fellow Albertans been running?? Is shell 91 around here the equivalent to 93 at sea level?

91 is fine up here.

There's a *Petrocan* in Sherwood Park that has 94, I fuel up there whenever I'm on my way to the city. But in the small town where I live, the best I can get is Esso 91

I use my first tank as Husky 93. My 2nd & 3rd are Petro-Canada 94.
I recommend Petro-Canada as it seems like have a higher milage.

Esso 91. 10% ethanol may be tolerated by the engine, but that doesn't mean it's good for it.

I doubt a modern engine would have a problem with ethanol, it's everywhere these days. That being said I am trying to find some more facts to back me up on the ethanol free vs 10% fuel in the BRZ.

If only 5% more ethanol becomes a problem (which, according to the manual it is), then it is probably not optimal for the engine even if can run [at least as long as the warranty] using 10%. There are still options (at least in Canada) for ethanol free gas which costs the same, gets better mileage and has no risk of damage (whether damage is possible or not).

Like what stateless said, I been using shell v-power and it contains no ethanol, so far been very happy with the mileage.
