Also your article is from 2012, completely different car than the current WRX.

There are too many factors at play and is very driver dependent. If you're at 3000 RPM with the WRX, and 5000 RPM with the BRZ, there'll be a very small amount of turbo lag and the WRX may be slightly faster. However if you're at 2500 with the WRX and 5000 with the BRZ, most likely the BRZ will be slightly faster.

But no matter what, my personal preference is the experience of the BRZ which is a linear and engaged power delivery. With the WRX, there's that moment where it's doing nothing and then boom, off like a rocket it goes. It makes it easier to come out of a turn if you are caught in the wrong gear. The BRZ on the other hand is the pure reflection of the driver's ability.

I also prefer the linear power delivery of a NA motor. While turbos are fun when they're "wound up" they can be frustrating otherwise and can actually be scary if they kick in in the middle of a corner.

Seems like you are the kind of guy that like lots of hp... Going from a camaro to a brz, it will probably disappoint for you. The BRZ is slow af, but it has an amazing handling, and incredible fun car on the back roads that makes up for it.

If you appreciate a good drive on twisty roads and are willing to sacrifice HP, then go for the BRZ 2017.

I'm a girl...

We have a 400hp+ Challenger and the WRX, so I have enough stuff that moves. You can't feel the hp of the Camaro, if that makes sense, like you can in the WRX. Even shifting 3/4 to redline doesn't do much. With the BRZ, it's just fun to drive at legal speeds.

Okay, so I looked at that nine page thread on pricing. How you guys are getting a Limited with an extended warranty and 2c package for 25k is beyond me. Best I have found is $25,500 with a $700(!!) doc fee in FL, or a 2017 Limited in PA for $26,500 or $27,500 with the performance package. I'm likely going with a 2017 Limited with the performance package, blue lighting, done, WR blue to match the WRX, or white. I'm still figuring out where to buy it.

I bought a 2013 Silver Limited BRZ in January. Gave $18K for it, in mint condition with only 11k on the dial. So far I have installed a catback, a stage 1 tune with an e85 kit from Delicious, wheels/tires/coilovers along with various odds and ends. I did consider buying a 2017 (I was also considering a wrx/sti hatch) but decided to buy older and use the saved $10+K on goodies. Big brake kit is nice but the stock brakes on these cars work pretty damn good. I will be changing the pads and fluid and calling it a day. Even if I ultimately throw in an Edlebrock, I think the brakes are sufficient (flame suit on!). Besides, a big brake kit is only a few grand - if you have your heart set on the beautiful big red bricks shining through your wheels.

Anyway, something to consider... sell your Camaro outright and search for an older Limited - take that saved dinero and farkle up!

At last an owner who considered buying a BRZ after owning a '16 V6 Camaro. I was wondering lately if I am in the FT86 club or in the Camaro club

That's not likely. Drive it on a tight backroad then you will realize with the design in mind & How it's designed in Japan for that kind roads..plus how Subaru pretty much cut all unnecessary spending.... not gonna see one with significant more power from factory for a really long time.
