rather buy it from a dealer

How much do you think the average dealership charges for 1.5 hours of labor? I would estimate $50 to $100 per hour.and I don't believe it would even take that long.unless they were painting it.it is going to be like 30 minutes.and an hour tofill out the paperwork.

Do it yourself. The dealer will just take a drill (that you can buy from a hardware store), drill holes and put screws through it. It's definitely not a $150 job. If it needs to be painted, your dealer will outsource it to a body shop and mark up the cost. You can call body shops and see if they have the paint code for your car.

It may sound scary to drill holes in your trunk but trust me, it doesn't take mechanical school to do

Find someone with a BRZ limited that wants to swap trunks?

mickey177 07-06-2012 10:58 AM

I am going to have some self controlled and wait for my next paycheck before i purchase it.I was planning on putting it on myself too.Wish I didnt have to drill into the trunk. The lip spoiler from Axis is taped on right?

^hahaha

I think it would be much easier to find someone with a BRZ and just trunk swap, unless you're afraid of that matching VIN thing...

ragingSPAM 07-07-2012 03:46 AM

LOL at deuce's post hahaha

Swap is best bet. FWIW before we decided to do it ourselves we checked around for pricing to install spoiler, or patch holes on brz's trunk lid...some body shops wont touch the car yet because its hard to get the pearl paint and spare parts, others will charge an arm and a leg, and also we were warned that drilling the FRS's trunk lid can crack the paint and we'd have to plug holes in BRZ and repaint both. Anyway, we swapped:

FRS is the one on the left, before you smartasses say you can tell by the badge, its a trunk swap so i clarified LOL
