A guy at work is somewhat obsessed by it.
I never played/watched/interacted with Pokemon so I don't know what all the fuss is about. I'm just waiting for the first reports of some clown walking in front of a moving car/train/meteor playing PGo.

Pokemon No

mdm 07-12-2016 09:04 PM

Here as well? What next, a Prism thread?

gramicci101 07-12-2016 09:31 PM

For everyone walking around hatching Pokemon eggs, check out a free app called Woof Trax (www.wooftrax.com). Woof Trax has deals with sponsors to donate funds to an animal rescue of your choice based on the number of miles you walk.

You must watch the anime from the beginning and play the game on Game Boy.

Yeah.......
I question the mental state of those that play it over the age of 21.

Welp, better line up several million nerds to resupply just about every industrial endeavor in the country after they all head to the loony bin. The people that build missiles and spaceships and cars and computers and cell phones are out there catching 'em all on their lunch break. I think I saw at least 100 people in the park last night downtown, smack dab in the middle of Apple, Lockheed, Microsoft, Google, Tesla, and NASA, and they weren't high schoolers out late, nah pokemon was before their time, an 18 year old today wasn't even born yet when Red & Blue hit shores. I wonder how many biotech geeks developing lab grown replacement organs got hooked on biology after evolving Bulbasaur? Nah, that's a long shot right?

I've got buddies in their 30's giddily showing off whatever rare pokemon they snagged that day. A 30 year old today was 12 when Pokemon came out.

Enjoy your high horse buddy, I've got a gym to battle.

I have a high horse! ...and I also do battle at my home gym.
Playing video games in the privacy of your own home is one thing but 30 year olds shouldn't be running around playing phone games out in public like middle school kids.
This is coming from somebody who grew up playing Atari and almost everything in between right up to now with a gaming PC and PS4 so I know immature but sorry adults playing Pokemon in public is just lame.
Was out this weekend on a very late night bike ride with my 17 yr old son, also a video gamer, and watched several adults running around in a park Pokemoning and it was a very sorry and embarrassing sight.

I played the previous version of this game (Ingress) for 2+ years until end of 2015.

It's pretty much the same game minus the fancy graphics.

You're right, no high horse for you. It's a shame you've spent so many years on this planet and are still concerned with how others perceive you.

Best of luck, hope you don't discourage your son from doing the things he enjoys.

arsenic74.9 07-12-2016 11:46 PM

I saw doctors at mass general hospital playing it

I wonder how one would go about explaining the gaming industry to him...?

Nice. Didn't think I get a one. Any who, please fill out the Butthurt Report. I'll make sure to read it in deep.

Also all those people can be easily replaced. Not everyone in those industries are nerds or into video games. You can't lump every fan of Pokemon into that mix. Give it a month after people get their phone bill. As with every phone app game it's a trend. Simple games for simple people. That's my look at it.

I've been having fun with it. Had a bitter sweet moment today, found a Charizard, I was super pumped. I caught it, but it only had 105CP  (I'm level 10).

Calais 07-13-2016 09:01 AM

I'm playing it and am 28, it's great to have a game like this don't see why people are so butthurt about others having fun, if you don't like it good for you don't feel the need to come into a thread dedicated specifically for it and flame the game, just let it be, people are having fun and some people are getting more exercise than they have ever gotten their entire lives by playing this game.

On another note I hatched a Evee felt good then I got enough candies to evolve it and got a Jolteon!! does anyone know if the Evee evolution is random or do other factors determine the outcome?

The Earth's distance from the Sun has a lot to do with it.

Ashikabi 07-13-2016 09:32 AM

Gotta agree with the super nerds here. Why does it matter where/what game is played? Add it turns out the vast majority of pokemon fans(and my little pony) are over 20 years old. It's odd, since pokemon seems like it was intended for children but I suppose what makes it any less than Call of Duty? If people want to walk around hunting for pokemon then so be it. No reason to look down on them. Not really any different than clash of clans. People already so this with Facebook... At least pokemon isn't full of drama and propaganda

I do not personally play pokemon but I support people's right to choose to play.

reddit is trying to figure this out right now. Every theory out there seems to be getting disproven though, so my bet is random.

STV3 07-13-2016 11:35 AM

Just started today!

Would have started when it came out last week, but until this morning (app got an update) it wasn't working on phones running Android N.... errr I meant Nougat

Pokémon go has taken up .06gb of data on my phone and I have walked 16miles since Saturday. OMG THE HORROR

"Simple people," Count over 10 million as simpletons from the android platform; Including people like Marines and nurses. Because many of those guys are playing right now on this military base I work on. I met a Major the other chilling by a pokestop. Just enjoying his time.

You must think you are some kind of ominous and awesome deity to make deductions like that.

I read a click-bait titled article the other day about the effects Pokemon Go is having on people with depression, agoraphobia, and other similar conditions and they said it has been making a tremendously positive impact on their lives.

If a video game gets people up and makes them exercise, what's the big deal? Seems like a win to me

At least our generation wasn't buying pet rocks when we were kids lol (looking at you 70's kids)

Yes, and now look at what society has become. It's turned everyone into Pokemon trainers. Oh, the humanity! Whatever shall we do?
