Warm area inside cabin when driving car hard + hot weather question
 

So lately, its been kind of hot and humid here in north jersey/nyc area. Last friday ,after i did the oil change, i noticed/felt the cabin warmer than usual (mostly by the pedals or around that area).

Then yesterday, i went for a mountain drive and noticed the same thing after driving the car for about 200 miles in total..

I always drive this car hard but never fully red line on every gear or burn clutch, etc... (also I do not use the AC most of the times.):)

I checked my oil and coolant level and they all seem ok. No burning smells or hot temp on engine.

Could it be just the heat from the engine bay? Strange that i only started to noticed this recently..

There is always air flowing in the HVAC system. What you have is your vents pointed to the foot wells and the warm ambient air from the engine bay pumping in. I point mine o the windshield when I'm windows down as this keeps the warm space away from me. Probably only noticed it because of where your vents are set to this time with the warm weather.

Try to set the system to cold air directed away from you BEFORE turning the system off.


It stays how you last left it when you turn it off and hot air will blow out even with it off.

If your mountain drive was a hard drive, then the AC compressor clutch disconnects based on throttle position, to remove parasitic loss and free up power. So if you're flooring it between corners, all of a sudden it'll be blowing warm/hot air at you when you put your foot down, because the compressor is no longer compressing.

In a hot environment when you first start the car up, the idle RPM will not spin the compressor enough to reach full capability. So the air will be room temperature to kind of cool. It doesn't really cool down until you can get the RPM up (ex. driving away).

Thats very possible, however i only noticed most of this warn area to be by the pedals (clutch, brake, gas)

Im going to try to close the vents and see if that makes a difference.

This is important and alot of people don't realize this, in alot of "pull" or acceleration videos of exhausts and stuff you can even hear the compressor clicking on and off. Alot of people have a tendency to say the A/C is crap on a super hot day, but go hard throttle before it has a chance to work on the heat load.
