Strange Noise from Headlight Leveling Module
Here's an interesting one. A video of the sound is attached (back when I took the video, it was the first time I'd heard this noise after I turned the car off, so I'm hunting for the source of the noise, which sounded like it was coming from the ABS module.)
It appears to be related to the motorized leveling unit. In the video, it's where the gray harness connects to the black housing. If I wiggled that area around, the sound would slow down/cut out/speed up. It seems like the motor spazzes out trying to find the right position to stop at - almost like it's continuously over/undershooting the position it wants to be in. It's very highly geared, so you can't really see the headlight beam itself move as it doesn't move enough to be noticeable. It's still very hard to reproduce this problem (I've heard it three times since I bought the car.) I'll have to take it in soon, though, as I'm only 4,000 miles away from the end of the bumper-to-bumper warranty, and I have no interest in purchasing a new OEM headlight assembly, lol. Anyone else ever experienced this? [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o6a97mAhWfM[/ame] |
Nope, no fancy headlight thing here.
But if I did and it was acting up, I'd be tempted to pull the fuse and reinsert it ....... maybe it will find it's bearing .......:iono: humfrz |
