The only other item we recommend to install this turbo kit is the OE Subaru STI PCI Valve, which can be purchased for $14.24 on Amazon.com

Looks good!

For the people who are stock running stock map. Is there an option to purchase a ECUTEK licence? Granted the person who is purchasing the kit with a friend with an ECUTEK cable.

Absolutely, if you have a cable, we can refer you to an Ecutek Pro-Tuner who can sell you a license.

Would you have an installation guide? I want to gauge the difficulties of this installation. It almost seems like it is a plug and play type of kit.

Second this, I'd love to see an install guide before making a purchase.

The SBD kit doesn't come with instruction manual, but you can download the Greddy turbo kit instructions here (http://www.greddy.com/upload/file/13-FRS_TK_T518Z.pdf)

There are some minor stuff which are not included in the kit, but are cheap and easy to source on your own. Install is pretty straight forward for the most part if you're handy with a wrench. Best to join the owners group on facebook as you can ask lots of questions there and get help/support/install tips from other users (https://www.facebook.com/groups/SBDF...itOwnersGroup/)

Here's mine installed:

You're kidding? That's ridiculous and a no go for me.

I was thinking about purchasing this kit too, if I went turbo.

spdbydesign 08-23-2016 06:32 PM

There have been over 1000 kits sold, not one single buyer has been unable to install it ;)

It's a very simple, straight forward kit to install once the front bumper is removed.

Greddy Install guide is literally the install guide for this kit.

All new kits have coated pipes and intercooler.

Have you considered looking into a water to air intercooler upgrade for the kit? Similar to the Coyoda turbo setup. This would eliminate the need to compromise the crash bar, or to replace it with an untested drift bar. It could also increase the cooling capacity quite a bit for those of us who see 90F ambient half the year.

I have not, not sure how streetable this would be as 99.99% of our buyers are daily drivers.

It should be very streetable, pretty much all OEMs now use W2A intercoolers on their high performance motors (BMW M, GM on the corvette and turbo caddilacs, Mercedes on most of their turbo motors, and there are more). The only thing to worry about is to freshen up the coolant every once in a while.

Daily driving is exactly why I bring this up, because as long as my car is a DD, I will not compromise its crash safety, and I'd hazard to say I'm not the only one. The only way to turbo this motor and keep the crash structure intact is to run really long intercooler piping (AVO, Ptuning), or use W2A (Coyoda, Edelbrock too but that's a SC). From Looking at the layout of the SBD kit, it looks to me like it's one of the more doable setups for W2A.

Just ordered my 500X kit. I cannot wait to install and experience this car with some real power.

Speaking of temps, by the way. I know I'd definitely want an oil cooler if I track it, but until then, would I need it for dailying here in South Florida?

Do you have a European dealer to sell these kits?
Import costs in Belgium are ridiculous. It would make the kit cost about 5k instead of 3k.
