Who's your insurance provider?

Hey all,

random question but who is your insurance provider? Feel free to give your experiences with claims and such. I am interested in hearing the stories others have to share. I understand it sometimes can come down to getting the right claims adjuster or the right person who woke up on the right side of the bed, taking it to the right shop, etc. but overall I just want to gather some information. I currently am with Geico and have seen my rates jack up 700 bucks for this 6 month term. I have called around to AAA, All State, State Farm, Mercury, Progressive, and Esurance. Mercury is telling me 700-800 for 6 months as opposed to Geico's 1700+ per 6 months.

I'll be looking forward to hearing responses

Thanks

I have Wawanesa and they have pretty good customer service. I have made 2 claims with them in total after I was involved in accidents and they were resolved quickly. I am not sure whether or not being at fault would affect that speed though (I wasn't at fault for either of the claims). you can also take the car to any repair shop and don't need to use "approved" ones.

Good to know. I have never heard of them but I will look them up.

My provider was GEICO until this happened:

JALOPNIK: GEICO DROPPED ME FOR AUTOCROSSING MY BRZ

Now I'm with State Farm.

I'm with Geico as well. Currently my insurance is only 700ish per 6 months. Full coverage. However i think it might be the fact that i'm 31, no accidents or tickets for 15 years, and i have my Lancer and my girlfriend on the insurance (which lowered the cost). Not sure mayber it depends on area?

I have state farm. No claims with them. No tickets no accidents. 28. Im at just over 1000 for 6mo full coverage. I also have my 2nd car and my house insured through them so there are some discounts there.

I'm with All State; they're aware of my extra curricular activities; but my policy makes it clear that I'm not covered during those extra curricular activities.
No claims, ever.

State Farm just dropped me.. Go figure. When I was looking around, Geico, Progressive, Farmers, etc. were all $500+/mo.

I ended up with Nationwide for $325 a month. Which is only $40 more than what I was paying.

I'm Geico as well - $743.46 w/ 2 cars for 6 months full coverage on the brz (other car is jeep wrangler TJ)

Also Geico, please do not read this thread thank u sirs or madams.

No one has yet mentioned their local insurance broker. I have always let my agent find me the best insurance company for my situation. They do the legwork, get the costs and present you with the options. If the company you go with quits doing business in your state, your agent knows all about it in advance and keeps you covered with the best new policy.

My insurance broker got me covered by Penn National Insurance about 15 years ago and they have stuck with me through a number of speeding tickets and two expensive accidents, and when the bad stuff rotates off my record, the rates come back down. At the moment, I have three glaring items in the past year: a speeding ticket in my old car, my BRZ purchase a month later, and an at-fault accident in my new BRZ a month after that. It would be silly to quote you my current premium, but you know it's sky high. The miracle is they haven't dumped me. They simply paid to have my BRZ brought back to showroom condition without quibble ($7500 plus the truck I hit), and kept my policy at the first-class coverage levels it was at before. I feel like I'm paying them back for the accident out of my pocket, but what's so unfair about that?

I really am a good driver -- I just have this knack for being in the wrong place at the wrong time. But maybe this tale will suggest to you the benefits of doing business with an insurance agent instead of going direct.

Stay safe, everybody!

Great comment and story man thank you! Unfortunately I was T boned and geico ruled me at fault based on a very very questionable right of way. Anyways that mixed with my BRZ purchase jumped me up from 1000 to 1750. I think I am going to go with Mercury they are the cheapest and most reasonable in my opinion

I'm also with Geico. The thing I'm curious about though with everyone saying they have 'full coverage' - how much coverage do you guys actually have? minimum 'Fullcoverage' is actually really gambling pretty hard, at least for Washington state as we only require like 10k across almost all things.

I go to the local broker once a year to check and make sure state farm is still the best out there for me and for the last 3 years it has been. No one has even came close.
