LED Blub Diffuser?
So, I have RGB LED blubs from Diode Dynamics, which I currently have in my fog light housings. I'm looking for some form of diffuser solution. I'm envisioning either some form of frosted plastic or glass sheath that I could put over the bulb and possibly glue in place, or perhaps some reflective cap I could clip to the end of the bulb to bounce the light from the end LEDs back into the housing.
I have considered attempting to fashion some form of solution, but I figured I would post first and see if anyone has any clever solutions. Edit: More thoughts I have also thought about clear plasti dip either on the bulb itself or on the front face of the fog light housing, and then potentially some night shade over that to diffuse from the lense. |
Try this, you need to topcoat with Enamel clear though

Check on ebay for "frosted vinyl" that might do it for ya.

Another friend suggested Styrofoam. I might try this first as it seems simplest/most affordable. My concerns are sizing, IE getting the bulb into the housing with the Styrofoam over the bulb, and aging, namely from potential sun damage

What are you actually trying to achieve?

I want to remove the visible hotspots, most particularly from each individual color on the LED chips. I'm less concerned if the chip as a whole still creates a more diffused hotspot, however I would like for individual colors on each chip to be less visible.
