Dash trim scratches?

I was at the dealership drooling over some FR-S's and I got to sit in a nice red 6MT model. It ended up belonging to the owner of the dealership and he puts his car up for display and lets customer sit in it and take a look.

Anyway, he'd been driving it for a few weeks now and I suppose to keep the dust down and keep things clean, he'd been wiping the dash with a cloth or something. I couldn't help but notice the "carbon fibre" dash trim had tons of little scratches all over it.

Has anyone else noticed that that trim piece is easily scratched / scuffed? Is there a way to protect it?

Funny, I just noticed some dust on that piece in front of the passenger. Wiped it down with my hand, now it has micro scratches all over it :brokenheart:

True.

I was looking to cover mine in leather with red stitching to match the car. The upholstery shop I have typically gone to indicated that the the leather is just too thick to be able to properly cover these pieces.

Anyone had any luck with something similar?

Mine does this too. Take a good quality wax and wax your panel like you would wax your car. Now it's really harder to see the scraches plus it's now shiiinnyyy :P

I use one of those California dash dusters. Great for removing dust and such. I use it daily and on my '06 GTI and no scratches even after six years and 95,000 miles.

Leather might be too thick, but I bet that 3M DiNoc stuff would work awesome! Not to mention it's basically what it already looks like, only with some texture you can actually feel!

Buy one of these and leave in the garage, it's guaranteed that you won't get scratches anywhere.
