I have been looking for a Camaro SS for a coupe years now and my wife's friend who works a Toyota calls and says they got one in for 22,500 black on black 6.2l 6speed. so Saturday we head over to check it out. as we are walking over to the camaro I see a raven frs sitting next to it and thought wow! that looks good. but was ready to punish some tires in the camaro. So being a close friend i got to take the camaro out by myself. Head up the road and under the over pass. as soon as i got on the straight revved it to 5k and dumped the clutch :) i was sold.

I headed back to the dealership with a shit eating grin until I went to back it up into the parking spot it left from. I then realized my wife would have the bumpers and doors busted off this thing in a week. I though "crap" this day was a waste of time. So we are standing next to the camaro just talking about it. and i realize the FRS keeps glaring at me just begging PLEASE TRY ME!!! I ignore it but I catch myself glancing over at it every couple of seconds. So i'm telling my wife the blind spot in the camaro is just to horrible and I cant make the deal. And she looks at the FRS and says "That one looks nice but is to expensive for us" ...

The salesman says actually its 19,500. and only has 1400 miles. I say instantly lets try it out. He goes and gets the keys and i pop in the car and fire up the a/c (its about 105 degrees out) I instantly time warped to when i was 16yo and got my 92 rx7. I don't say anything to my wife. I am completely oblivious to the whole world. and old memories are crashing into my head like canon balls. Parts of my brain that have not worked in 10 years are now firing lighting strikes. All the worries of the world are not gone but they have no place in my brain as the little boxer hoots its battle cry. As we turn back into the dealership I'm not smiling like i did with the camaro. instead my entire body is tingling. I know it is completely impractical just like the rx7 was. (many of people rode in the hatch of that poorcar) but i don't care the car could have been 100k dollars and i still would have left with it that day. needless to say i did and have not looked back. All I have to say is thank you little FRS is so glad you were there to knock out that grizzly camaro

^ Great read! Thanks for taking the time to put this down.

Waiting to test out the '17 BRZ, maybe it can trigger similar fond memories of my father's vintage 911 (OK, that might be a bit of a stretch)...

Test drove the car back in August of 2013. Sales dude was crappy. Drove it on the freeway and was ready to open up and sales dude said, "no, speeding!" WTF! Right. Needless to say he did not know shit about the car and lied when asked about the fuel chirping issues. Then calls me back next day asking if I wanted to buy a used one. When asked again about chirping issues his reply was in a aggressive tone, "Buy a brand new one then!". Hahaha! Not a way to sell a car. Needless to say I didn't buy one in 2013 because they didn't have the color I wanted. I waited till October 2014. Mid life crisis for me cuz life's too short. Gotta racecar as Tcoat says! ;)

I was interested in a sports car to start racing in and i looked at many cars. Miata, 240sx, 350/370z, MR2 etc but I wanted a RWD, Reliable, newer, and light car so that threw most of my option out and I always seen FRS/BRZ but they were to expensive for me especially for a car I expected to beat on it on the track. After searching for 6 more months since i had saved up since i was 10 doing chores and working my summers with family eventually working summers at a local mechanic shop here and a help from my parents ( i wont deny my parents help me a lot about 70% of the car came from them, not ashamed ) i continues saving for those 6 months never buying useless things wearing old clothes all the time and never really buying stupid things i didnt need like new phones or beats or expensive shoes i was close to a FRS only had 8k but i considered that close so i started looking for some and i test drove an automatic one that put a huge smile on me

This car didnt feel like the cars ive been in before (900hp 350z, 500whp evo 8, etc) but it sure did feel fast and made me smile the whole time not once did i hink this car is off or anything

I read up more on them eventually finding a awesome deal for a rebuilt title 2013 FRS manual ofc for 12k parents helped me with the rest of the cash and i now own it ive had it for a month now and i couldnt have been happier im 17 years old been working my ass off for 7 years and had the privilege to get a lot of help from my parents (again not ashamed) and i own a car that makes me smile everyday, during traffic jams, while its parked, while im at a party. This car is amazing and truly the ideal car for me.

Waiting for the guys to talk crap about me being so young with a car that cost that much as i always get shit for it. But im not a ricer kid i wanted a car i can perfect my driving in a car i can grow in and a car i can learn in, so far im working to getting it ready to hit a track (which is literally nothing just new brakes) and im proud to own it let the hate begin

Enjoy the car. Sounds like you made a commitment and worked hard towards that goal. Nothing wrong with family helping. Its a sign of their love and recognition in your efforts and strong desire to own the car.
