3-for-1 review- Berk muffler delete, cherry bomb and Weapon-R Secret Weapon
Berk dual tip muffler delete. I love it. It's loud and raucous. It may be a bit too loud, there's some drone, it's very similar though not quite as bad as just dropping your muffler. It trims about 20lbs or so from your car too. It looks awesome with the slightly oversized stainless tips.
There isn't much to review, this is a fairly simple drop-the-muffler-and-hang-this-in-it's-place sport of a mod and the pipe itself is pretty simple. Perfect fitment- tips match up and are perfectly equal. What impresses me is that even though this mounts up to the OEM mid pipe and there's a really short run to the left tip but a fairly long run to the right tip, the exhaust fumes come out equally from both. WITCHCRAFT ___________________________________ I cut off some exhaust piping from just behind the rear mid pipe flange and had a 12"x2.25" cherry bomb (glass pack muffler) welded in place. It mellows out the tone of the Berk and eliminates drone. At 70 in 6th gear, I may as well have the OEM muffler installed. At idle there's a nice rumble under you not an obnoxious growl. When I mash the gas, the sound is like listening to porn. It's awesome. Berk + cherry bomb= loud when I want it, quiet when I don't. Added bonus- you can just see the bright red cherry bomb nestled in there from behind. ____________________________________ Weapon-R Secret Weapon intake. Fitment and install was perfect- the MAF mounted perfectly (I had read it's a problem) and there was no fresh air pipe thing (not that there's anyplace to run it to). I think earlier models had the air pipe thing and MAF issues, but not this one. Any gains from the intake are most likely nullified by the increase of IAT. My IAT's have always been a bit high (the OEM setup has poor thermal management IMHO) and with this open-ish short ram intake, obviously intake temps are a bit worse. The air box is not sealed- it's more of a shield than a box though it has 3 sides and a bottom. The box has the OEM cold air tube that opens into it, but it is useless as it's not a ram-air tube. LTFT and STFT are exactly on point- no issues at all. AFR is perfect. I didn't even bother to disconnect the battery, it's minor mod in the long run, but I like intakes, they look and sound awesome IMHO. This intake creates a separate new sound when I mash the gas. It changes the engine tone slightly, but the big change is the additional sound from the engine (valve sounds? lifters?) which gets much louder around 4000 RPM under load up to redline. Car sounds more racey with the new intake  |

I still need to clean up the cherry bomb, it looks messy because of the slag and heat of welding. What's good to use to clean up stainless tips? |

The Weappon R intake filter has a lip to mount a tube on to so it can lead to a source of cooler air. Short ram intakes of course have a weakness where they suck hot air. So I decided to try and modify the filter to suck cooler air.
I used a 3" to 4" reducer, slipped it on the lip of the filter and used 4" dryer hose to run to the fender liner and draw in cooler air from the wheel well. A lot of OEM air intakes get air from the wheel well and the plastic liner is easy to cut. When cruising my IAT is pretty high as expected but the harder I drive, the harder the filter sucks air and my IAT drops like a stone. Using Torque to watch my IAT, it doesn't take a lot of hard driving to see IAT drop to within a few degrees of ambient. Honestly I didn't think this would work because it just looks like the filter would suck more hot air from the sides than cooler from the front. But when the engine sucks harder and needs more air, the tube delivers the cold air. |

I had the berk muffler delete for the better part of a year, and now have a nameless exhaust because if I had kept the muffler delete it would've been too loud with my header. I used cooktop cleaner it works super well, it's called "Cerama Bryte" with E85 my tips are always clean anyway but when I ran 93 I used cerama bryte |

Was this the Cherry Bomb that you added in? https://www.amazon.com/Cherry-Bomb-8.../dp/B003E5X4I8 |
Yup, that's the one, but I got it at Autozone for $10 cheaper locally. I wish I could weld myself, but I had to go a local muffler shop and have them do it. Yeah, I know weird- I got it locally for less than Amazon.
A drop-in filter will give you the same power increase (which is not a whole lot either way) but it doesn't look any different from stock and doesn't sound any different. When it comes to cost:power, a drop-in filter is the best. But the intake definitely adds a different sound when I am getting on it and it adds some under-hood bling too. I got the Weapon R used off Ebay and it wasn't all that expensive; of course a drop-in would have cost a lot less. |
your frs sounds stock just a bit louder but still sounds stock.
