I can't see why anyone would buy an 86 over a premium BRZ I feel like Subaru will make a second generation, while Toyota will focus on the SFR. |
For the first time I can recall, I saw the 86 in a Toyota commercial. They had the lineup of cars and the 86 was at the apex of the wedge of cars. Probably means nothing but it's good to put the best looking car up front

Canada Sales Numbers for the month of December.
Toyota 86/FRS - 38 Subaru BRZ - 21 |
Sales are continuing to fall. They should pick up a bit in the spring.

The huge surplus of FRS/BRZ in the used car market is tough to justify getting a 2017 model unless they offer a hot version .
|
Sales are probably slow because there's limited inventory in the dealerships. I've been trying to buy one for two months now, and the best they can do is place an order for the version I want.

This. What are you getting for that huge price premium when you can save like 10 grand on a used one with almost all of the same features and low, like new mileage? |
Winter sales suck in the northern section.
The used market will continue to grow and suck up sales. All models but especially the 86 were delayed well beyond their "normal" delivery dates. On the upside if we can believe the commercial that was posted we know for the first time how many they actually plan to make. I have sounded like a broken record with my "sales numbers mean nothing when we don't know how many were built" rants. The commercial states there will be "8,600" built. Now we can watch and see how many of those 8,600 get sold and have a true picture of how sales are going. If they sell all of them that they made then sales are just fine no matter if it is a reduced number from previous years. If they sell 1,500 of them then the car is doomed. |

Everybody screams "buy used it is just as good" and then cry "the trade in values on these suck" and "why did my car depreciate so fast". Every single used one sold at a bargain basement price drops the demand for a new one which in turn lowers the resale/trade in value. Besides, where the fuck will all these low mileage, like new ones come from if nobody buys new? Somebody HAS to buy new and take the hit for all those used deals to exist. |

Then I'd like to take this opportunity to thank you on behalf of all of us that don't buy new. |
