1 Attachment(s)
I had squaky clutch sound for 2 weeks, so I took a look at underneath the dash for clutch pedal area but it's so rust inside there..
I never drive my car in winter and only has 38k km for 2013 Scion FR-S
what the hell is wrong with this.

It is bare untreated steel.
Bare untreated steel rusts.
Will take decades before it is a problem.

All cars do it. Even brand new. Bare steel rusts. Always has and always will. It isn't financially feasible to paint or powder coat every single component underneath the car. It is only surface rust and is not hurting anything.

Well this backfired on me!
Went and took a pic of mine to show what a 100K+, two winter car one would look like and SUPRISE!

Did you have something splash up there or something?

not at all sir.

bodyshop once cleaned interior tho including carpets.

Would that cause this issue?

or probably sitting my car for winter about 4 months every year will get the moistures developed in there?

I have no damn clue.

Hope it doesnt break in half while im driving .

AHHHH there is the culprit! Water and cleaning solution sprayed up while shampooing. You can almost see how it was splashed around once you know.
Like I said it is just surface rust and a complete non issue. Doubt it will even get any worse unless you have it cleaned again.
I really expected to see a mess when I looked at mine but I guess the ventilation is pretty good down there.

WD40 will make it real easy to scrub off surface rust.

But be warned, WD40 is a "penetrating oil and water-displacing spray" its not actually meant as a lube. So your squeaking problem might fix itself for a little while but it'll come back.

Spray with WD40 to clean off the rust, and then find some actual lube and apply to moving parts.
