Front license plate issue

My brother recently bought a 2008 s2000 cr and hasn't put the front tags on it yet. Today he got pulled over and got a ticket that says "failure to attach registration plates front and rear". So my question is did the cop give him the wrong ticket so if he fought it in court he can get out of the ticket because its not the right ticket. We live in Maryland.

Why he haven't put the tags yet? Hasn't came yet? Came, but haven't put it yet?

He has the back plate on but not the front plate. He has the front plate but refuses to put it on.

So he refuses to put the front plate on. He got a ticket for a license plate violation. He pays the ticket. I don't see the issue here.

I also run several cars without a front plate, including my BRZ. If I get stopped, I'll pay the ticket.

^ditto

You bro is the one violating the law. Sadly popo is right on this one

My state don't require front plate, so I'm lucky on that part

But the ticket said he didn't have a back license plate on which he did so he doesn't have to pay the ticket cause it's incorrect. I've have gotten out of situations like this before because of minor details.

You can try, but after correction, judge will give your bro correct ticket. Either way loos- loose situation

Front plate is required by law in Maryland, don't be a dipshit.

Your best bet is tell your idiot brother to request a court date, put the plate on, take a picture, and show it to the judge. Regardless, it's illegal, you're brother got what was coming, stop trying to get out of it. Neither you nor him are special snowflakes.

get a licence plate relocation kit and put it more or less to a pleasing location

bend over for the law

or move to a state that doesn't require that shit, like FLordia (i think), warmer there too, but you get the occasional typhoon so it's a trade off.

Here in Canada the entire province of Quebec doesn't require licence plates, i'm so jealous.

Ur dreaming, yes in certain cases u can get away with it when police make an error but this is not one of them.... Sure he said front and back was not shown but he will argue he meant to say just front and ur brother WILL lose the case and pay court fees as well as ticket.. Its a very minor error the cop made... They will also look at ur brothers track record and possibly increase the fine if he has priors...

Unless u claimed the front plate had been stolen at the time of being pulled over OR used ur right to make no comment/remain silent in regards to any questions the cop said in regards to why the license plate was not on the car u have no chance at all....

I could be wrong because im not American so use at ur discretion.....

I must admit this ticket is not the best ticket to go court for because the time you waste on it can be used for better things instead of a 70 dollar no point ticket.

Miniata 07-06-2012 06:47 PM

I believe the ticket here in Ohio is $80 for no front plate. I've only been stopped once in 10 years or so of not running front plates, and that was by a county Sheriff when I had the license plate on the dash, and he gave me a verbal warning and chatted about my car for a bit (full gutted Neon with a roll cage).

Your brother could try and fight it, but he might end up having to pay the fine anyways (shouldn't be a moving violation at least), plus court costs, plus missing time off work.

No plate front and rear means he didn't meet the requirement of having a plate both front and rear. It's an and, not an or.
