Torque Dip Decisions

Which of the following options have you decided upon for this much discussed Gen1 2013-2016 topic:
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/searc...rchid=12653956

1. No torque dip specific modifications: It doesn't bother me.
2. No torque dip specific modifications: I don't want any potential future warranty issues due to mods.
3. OFT tune
4. UEL Header
5. UEL header + OFT tune
6. Something else: Please specify.
7. Wait for the performance results of the 2017 model before deciding.

Thanks!

8. Downshift

Phantobe 06-22-2016 07:12 PM

Might as well wait for the 17' just to be safe.

Supposedly, there was a dyno chart floating around somewhere on the BRZ forums & it still had the torque dip.

9. The engine is capable of running <5k rpm?

10. BOOST.... the cure all fix

Curtski96 06-22-2016 07:20 PM

Headers!!!

Ls swap, or boost. Basically the only things worth considering.

I took the beast on Highway 89A between Flagstaff and Prescott yesterday (google map it!) and only noticed the "dip" when I hit the Gas while in the wrong gear, lol. This machine is made to be shifted and revved to obtain the performance the chassis is designed to provide. I use the cruise for the Interstate, yesterday, I used my ears and ass to keep me stuck to my seat with maximum side "G's". What a lovely day it was...just what I bought this for!!!

@FR-S 264 - That looks like a fun drive! Kinda envious. No, REALLY envious!

See post #1804 in the 2017 Toyota 86 - new name, styling, and more power thread

I voted something else as 1 and 2 don't apply but I haven't done anything about it because of CS rules.

For clarity that is a pic of the gauge from the 17 BRZ not a dyno graph. It is possible (possibly likely) that the gauge cluster was installed in a 16 to get those pics. Nothing is firm until we see supporting or counter results from another source.
