Automatic slowdown shifter noise

I have 1000 miles on my car now and started hearing this little noise every time I slow down just before stopping. Radio off of course. I pulled the shift boot to see what may be loose and found nothing. I decided to drive it and watch in there to see if I could see anything. Low and behold there is a plastic piece controlled by some electronic device that moves down when you start driving and then slaps back up as you come to a stop. Very weird. I am wondering what it is. Maybe a electronic mechanical reverse lock out? Anyone know about this or started hearing it yet. Never heard it in the beginning with the radio off but now its haunting me.

I started hearing a clicking noise as I came to a stop along with a grinding when taking quick little turns.....

Turns out my wheel lock key got loose in the glove box...

I wish it would have been that simple. I can see it do it in the shift mechanism.

Same noise in my BRZ Auto. Since you are hearing it too, I'm assuming its normal. I have 350ish miles.

There is a little pendulum in there that is electronically activated. I think it may be a reverse lock out, it kicks in as you start accelerating then retracts down near 1 or 2 miles per hour. Just needs some felt or something on it to quiet it.

I would bet on this as well. Perhaps mention this at your next stop at the dealership?
