Kill Switch

So has anyone install any kind of kill switch on their vehicle yet? Of course I do things to minimize the unwanted attention.

What's the best way to wire those? Read that you can either do electric or fuel pump switch.

Thanks!

What do you want a kill switch for?

Besides, Insurance can always replace it for worst case scenarios..

Don't think we would need to do this since we already have a chip in our keys right? :iono:

Is the engine immobiliser not effective enough?

billwot 06-22-2016 05:00 PM

The OEM immobilizer is far more effective than any ghetto-rigged solution you could do.

Oh crap I forgot about that lmao.

Good point all. Ty!

Yep. Anybody that can get around the immobilizer won't be slowed down by a kill switch. They know there stuff and no mater how creative you get they will probably find it in a couple of seconds.

Besides if they really want your car:

Battery saver (cutoff knob) does kill the car, no fuel pump, no starting or driving away, no radio-based unlocking etc. Remove the knob and presto, no connection.

Also useful if you're going to park the car for a week or more, no dead battery.

YMMV.

IMO, best way to do it is... setup a home security camera that focuses on your driveway. Just incase it does go down, you have video footage for evidence. If you want to take it to the next step, then add wheel boot locks, break lock and steering wheel lock. All those layers of security would definitely deter the average thief. However, if it will be stolen...it will be stolen pending on how bad the thief wants it.

Note: I only shared this because I owned an Integra before and I was always paranoid back in the early 2000's lol. But layers and layers of security does help because it would give the thief 2nd thoughts whether it was worth it to break in your car.
