Method MR501

Hey all,

im looking at getting the Method MR501s I can get a pretty good deal on them. My question is with only a +42 OS whats the widest tire I can go with up front to avoid rubbing? Also If I ran a spacer to get the wheel well flush will I be looking at rubbing when turning?

Thanks,

Chris

Probably a 225. Maybe a 235. With some small spacers, maybe a 245. But, I'd stick to a 225 anyhow since it's an 8" width.

I'm running a 17x8 +45 SSR GTV02 with 245/40/17. It's close to the springs up front (stock suspension), but I haven't rubbed yet.

17X8 +42 with a 245/40/17 will fit. http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10257

This is the widest I would go. It's my opinion, you won't need spacers. It will look good.

18x8 +42 with 245/35/18 will fit. I have the same spec as this thread. (for the front)

245 looks nice. Performance wise, a 225 is probably better on an 8" wheel.

These look heavy though. Strong, yes, but heavy.

I looked up the weight, found this post, for anyone curious like me:

These wheels are not intended to be lightweight track day wheels they are designed to be out on dirt and sustain most abuse that would be encountered on an average rally stage.

The 17 and 18 inch wheels have a 1850lb load rating, about 15-25% higher than the average wheel people are using.

MR501 in 17x8 weighs 23.5lbs, 18x8 weighs 24.5lbs
MR502 in 17x8 weighs 24.3lbs, 18x8 weighs 25 lbs

So my hunch is right. They weight +4lbs vs stock. A bit too heavy for just looks, if car isn't really abused rally-style (but later asks for heavy investment in rally suspension and extra underside protection aswell).

damn.. might just have to lift the brz after all...

wish they weighed less - doesn't justify the upgrade.
