Retail commission jobs

Does anyone on here work for Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus etc?

I was wondering how the pay is. While reading glassdoor reviews some say its 100% commission and some say it's draw vs commission.

If you are or had worked for these types of companies before, do you recommend them?

If you want to work straight commission just be an insurance agent or something where you can make real money.

What he said ^

Insurance agent, real estate agent, etc...

While not a "face to face" agent per say, my aunt works for State Farm making serious money being a claims adjuster.

Yeah, like, if you're going to have to hustle your ass off just to eat, you might as well be eating well.

This I like those threads where somebody says they are looking at a used Miata and everybody says to run out and buy a new Porsche or Vette. Tim is obviously looking for an entry level position. You don't just walk into an insurance office and say "l am selling for you now".
To answer the question commission sales for anything can swing both ways fast. One week you are racking it in and the next you have nothing. Be careful of thinking of commission and draw as being more stable though. Yes you will have something coming in all the time but if you don't make the sales to cover it then you can end up owing the employer a shitload. It is a dangerous trap
All that said I know people that do very well at commissioned sales.

My friend worked at Nordstrom and I asked him about it before. He mentioned that the shoes/perfume/makeup are the best spots to be at, everything else isn't worth it. Take in to account you have to deal with women all day and have the look/sweet tonque to go with it. He paid himself through college working part time. If you are ok with dealing with women all day and looking at mangled feet, while trying to decide if you are going to tell them the truth(they don't fit aka you have big feet, aka avoiding refunds aka negative commissions), or letting them buy a size too small. He did get a lot of phone numbers from sugar mommas though; if that is your thing.
