Securing subwoofer box in trunk

So how did you guys go about it? I'm using a bungee cord to hold mines in place, but it's a kicker box so it's shaped a little funky.

My first was high strength velcro... It was fine tbh, 2nd is bolted in place

Bolting it down to metal is the only safe way. In an accident, a subwoofer box WILL break down the rear seat in the right kind of accident.

Just a year or so ago there was a guy that died in a car wreck because his box broke though his rear seat and crushed his head.

From your pic it looks like you have your subwoofer bolted/screwed down to the fiberboard trunk mat.
Since the trunk mat is not secured does the subwoofer move when you hit a bump?
Velcroing the trunk mat down to one or all of the 3 secured styrofoam blocks under it would keep the trunk mat from moving.

I agree but the only metal in the trunk to secure it to would be the side wells, which I do not want to drill into.

For the sake of conversation, Im pretty sure mine did not, however mine was only about 1" shorter than the roof of the trunk space, so if it did, there wasn't very far for it to go..

I have a small box (Pioneer UD-SW200D) that came with right angle brackets to secure it to the floor. I set them against the back of the back seat and used industrial Velcro to secure them.

Not very much, if at all. Its pushed back against the rear seat just a little so that helps. I can only see it moving if I'm in a rollover incident and landed upside down...

There are more ways of securing it but this works for me.

I have a 10" single sub. I tried it in the trunk but it slid around, rather than bolting or bracing it down I decided to put the passenger rear seat to use. Works perfectly like a speaker box cradle. Keep the amp secure in the trunk with velcro and pass the wires right by the rear seat.

Just a word to the wise, that speaker and box probably weigh over 20lbs. In an accident that 20+ pounds will go wherever it wants to inside the passenger area of your car.

You should really look into bolting the box down somehow. Especially since the speaker is in the passenger area.

I ended up using a bungee cord as well, because my box is a weird shape. One day I'd like to re-make it in fiberglass so I can indeed fix it to the floor of the car.

You got lucky. Just sayin.

I'm holding mine with a bunch of velcro as well but . I think mine don't fit through the back seat hole if folded. I have a 12". The problem is the thin card board in the trunk that moves now.
