The fact that getting that point across is more important to him than expressing an identity of his own is definitely sad and possibly disturbing. It would still be sad if Nick Merrone were a widely known public figure, but that doesn't seem to be the case. So that makes this seem sort of stalkerish. I'm wondering if Nick Merrone is going to arrive home one day to find a bunny boiling in a pot with OP lurking about with a knife.

Or maybe it is simply an inside joke with no huge back story.
