Do you think this is frame damage?

Good morning guys. First off I would appreciate it if only professionals in body/frame work answer this question, thank you.

I just bought this 2014 FR-s with 10,600 miles for $4,000 from an insurance company to restore, I'm in the process of rebuilding it to street legal use but before I go in for the inspection I wanted to get your opinions on the passenger side hit, do you think that is considered frame damage? It's just the skirt that's smashed, everything from the jack-up point and beyond it is straight.

Cut off the quarter panel and look?

Ok so if you only want professionals to answer your question why ask on the forums. Your time would be better spent taking it to local shops and getting their opinion.

Since no one has said it yet and I feel it is my responsibility... TOTALED

fumanchu1 06-15-2016 11:33 AM

I kid, I kid, it'll definitely buff out

OkieSnuffBox 06-15-2016 11:39 AM

Likely not.

Yes^^^^^^^^

The irony of the username vs the type of damage is hilarious though.

It's like rain on your wedding day
It's a free ride when you've already paid
It's the good advice that you just didn't take
Who would've thought... it figures

I don't know bro you really pushing this one.... But for 4K why not? You still profit even if you just cut it apart & sell. Lol

First off. This was your first post. And this is a forum. You get the answers you get. And usually, requesting/demanding something will backfire on the OP. FYI.

No. Not that I can tell. That is a nice $4000 project. The car is totally fixable.

I wouldn't call myself a professional, but I have made some money fixing cars.
I have been an investor on cars from the auction for my buddy's shop. We make the decision on which cars to buy together.

Good luck!

That was sort of my thoughts as well. I can't offer an opinion since I am not a professional body guy (as per his instructions) but have to wonder why the insurance company even have wrote that off if that that wasn't frame damage. We have seen cars with the whole front or rear wiped right off them sell for more than $4K. Hell, he could get most of his money back just for the engine alone.
Helluva bargain really if not street repairable.

I'm inclined to believe there's other damage not shown, or at least other repair work needed to bring the car back to 100%. The front of the car looks like it's been partially stripped, so who knows what condition the rest of the car is in. Maybe it sat in an impound yard for the past two years with the windows down...
