Individual Throttle Body Development

I've make this thread to document the development of ITBs for our platform. After 4 yrs I've given up waiting for someone else to do it.

First things first. ITBs are unlikely to be a performance improvement over the stock manifold. The engine makes 100hp/l out of the factory which is impressive and mine was running at around 125hp/l. Improvements on that would be marginal at best without some serious cams and head work.

This brings me to why anyone would want ITBs. If you've owned a car with ITBs you'll understand. It's about the glorious sound and instantaneous throttle response. Some people will never get it, mainly because they'll never own a car with ITBs.

Progress so far. First prototype manifold fitted. A few minor changes but so far so good.

Amazing! Ive been waiting for someone to do it. Is it based off of dcoe design? Also is there a way to pu lt a deposit down on a set?

With that set up engine will need a tune? No plenum with air filter? Throttle is via ecu, how much throttle response?

I'm currently deciding between DCOE, IDA and other throttle body designs. DCOE is cheap and easy to get. But throttle plates diameter is limited to 50mm. The centerline between plates is much smaller than IDA and you can get 55mm IDA no worries. I'm also looking at other options for both ones with injector bungs and ones without.

At this stage I'll be doing a combined MAP/TPS based tune on my standalone ECU. Undecided between throttle cables and DBW. I'd hate to have the DBW dull the awesome throttle response you get from ITBs.

This is what it looks like with a DCOE pattern (ignoring the lip in the flange).

Subbed, I was going to take mine into Jenvey who are situated about an hour from me, if their ITBs are good enough for pagani, they are good enough for me. That won't be happening for some time though, so im really interested in seeing your design (and how it compares to 86drift's)
