Negotiating FR-S prices

Hi, just a newbie here. I want to ask if anyone had any luck negotiating prices of the FR-S down with the Scion dealerships.

I have done a quote to find out the dealer cost of the car at carsaver.ca and am unsure of the accuracy. I was told that dealers should only be making $300-$500 per car, so the FR-S could be negotiated down by at least $900 by that assumption.

Also, if I can't use these numbers in a negotiation, can I use the reports provided by carcostcanada.com?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

These are the numbers for the FR-S:
INVOICE
MSRP
Base Price
$24,513
$25,990
Destination
$1,495
$1,495
Options
$100
$100
TOTAL PRICE
$26,108
$27,585

These are the numbers for the BRZ:

INVOICE
MSRP
Base Price
$27,125
$29,295
Destination
$1,595
$1,595
Options
$100
$100
TOTAL PRICE
$28,820
$30,990

From what i know, i don't think you can talk prices down off the frs since its so limited right now. You can talk to them about finance rates and how you pay it or possibly even add-ons like gas cards or detail jobs, something along those lines

From what I read in another post it seems someone got $600 off their car.

Also carcostcanada.com states that are normal dealer markup is 3-6%. The 25990 is just about at the 6% point. If I can negotiate it down to 3%, I'm looking at getting around $700 off the car.

Thanks anyways, but I am looking for the prices that current FR-S/BRZ owners have gotten.

Oh ok I guess if it works let me know

Honestly, I didn't even bother trying to negotiate them down on a car with margins this low. I don't feel the amount they get per car (for the FR-S) is excessive.

If this was a $60k car with tons of margin it'd be a different story.

another thing to keep in mind, If you dont buy the car, someone else will, bargaining a Camery or Corolla would be easy cause there just sitting there. FRS on the other hand is not. but hey, doesn't hurt to try right?

It definitely doesn't :

Financing @ 2.7% x 36 months

Toronto, Ontario

2% can make a difference regardless.

Yup, that's me. Ordered June 18, fingers crossed taking delivery July 12. Don't let Scion dealers bluff you with this huge demand, no haggling stance. Sure, I've talked to tons of people who say they're interested in getting this car, but how many are a) in the market for a new car b) fit the demographics this vehicle targets c) can cough up the cash right here right now? Price is where the supply curve meets the demand curve, hence why production is so limited. Ultimately, the money is in your pocket.

It's definitely possible to negotiate the price down, it just takes persistence and a lot of dumb luck. It also helps if you can leverage something.

I ordered mine on the last week of may and I know a person that took delivery without a deposit , it all depends on what dealership you go to

Yeah, also depends on timing...if you get there the day they get the cars you can get lucky it seems.

If you think that was a soon delivery. I just bought mine today. And am looking to get it next week! Yeah, that's what's up!

I didn't get the invoice price from carcostcanada but I used the number I got from carsaver.ca and multiplied it by 1.04 then added the options then the 755, 740, and 100 mandatory charges, then finally multiplied that number by 1.13 to get my final estimate. I then preceded to tell the associate that my "friend" got his Scion for that price at Yorkdale Scion. And he matched that, I got coaxed a bit with the $5000 insurance package and the nitro stuff, so ended up adding another $226 to that previous final price.

I wanted white but had to wait 4 months, so took a black instead. It should be in next week! Pretty pleased with Brimell Scion, I highly recommend it! Ask for Kevin Davidson if you are seriously considering one.

Called every dealership in the GTA and outskirts, asked how many vehicles they're expecting for their next allocation, or better yet, if they have any free orders now for vehicles in the pool, and whether they have any customers on a waiting list. Found one that had 3 free orders for cars that have arrived at port, went there, finished negotiations after 2 visits, knocked $623 off MSRP, got my VIN a week later, and hopefully will have my car ready for detailing next weekend.
