Haha I knew it focus rs price

So my local ford deslership just got focus rs in their show room floor.
1. It's in show room floor, same as gt500. No test drive til car is sold.
2. 10k mark up.

Msrp of 36k +10 = 46k

I think at Msrp this is good deal but not for 46k.
I guess I won't even consider rs for at least few more years

Your thoughts ?

That assessment is about right.

Summerwolf 06-06-2016 12:25 PM

Yeah, no shit. The ones sold were pre-orders, and I'm willing to bet someone will pay that for a limited production vehicle.

IDK why, but someone will buy it. I thought the focus ST was very unworthy of its 30K+ pricetag new.

In the UK the early cars are on sale circa £38k sterling. That's circa £8k over MRRP.. the M2's circa £55k to £59k!

Tcoat 06-06-2016 01:22 PM

There were many $40K FRSs sold when they first came out (check some old threads) so only $10K is not so bad sounding.

Damn, I bet they're feeling it now when the car is only bringing high teens pre-owned lol. Or maybe they don't care and bought is as an R&D platform and made their money back. Or maybe they actually raced it. Or maybe they paid cash and just don't care. Who knows!?!?!

I just have to laugh at anyone willing to pay some kind of "market adjustment" at the dealer.

I'm guessing you saw the one at the HRE open house (or if you didn't, it was probably the same one-it was black?) The 10k mark-up is complete bs, my buddy paid 3k over for his.

The price you pay to keep up with the Joneses.

It's not a limited production vehicle.

I guess, but 10K over FRS price could get you a really nice pre-owned C6 corvette and then the joneses would have issues keeping up with you.

The focus RS?

Everything I have ever seen made it seem like it will be a short production run and limited numbers.

If they will make as many as will be bought than the pre-orders and people paying over sticker will really be sad when the cars are on lots.

Dodge ran in to that with the hellcat vehicles too where people were paying 20K over sticker and now they're just pumping those cars out and you can see them all over if you look.

autonews says ford will pump out as many as can be bought.... so, then really what is the appeal?
