And just want to say I appreciate your willingness to give the comparison photos when you get an ST in. Thanks!

yeah, but since its a brand new car, so everything is being broken in, including clutch.

I probably wouldn't be able to resist beating on it if it were my car lol.

The car is slightly out of my price range anyways, but I agree in that the interior is a disappointment. A friend of mine had (just recently got rid of it) a regular Focus and the interior material quality looks the same to me, especially the steering wheel center. Whole interior design is chitzy and cheap to begin with, so it doesn't help.

Hopefully the driving experience makes one overlook these transgressions, haha!

I can't wait to get mine so I can get the damn thing to Sebring.

is it true that the rear diff is maxxed out at stock power levels?

tyrantcf 06-08-2016 06:04 PM

I mean I like it, but goddamn I just can't imagine spending that kind of money for it.

eh.. I don't think anyone knows.. but logically the clutch packs are designed to slip and they will only hold so much torque so without upgrading the clutches then it makes sense that there will be a point where added torque from mods will make it more front biased.

What is that limit? I doubt anyone outside of Ford and GKN know the true answer yet. And I'd bet upgraded clutches will be made to address it if it's a big enough problem.

I think I'll be happy with stock power to maybe 50hp over stock.

doing a photo/video shoot after work today.

Photos will be up pretty quickly (tomorrow at the latest) but video might take longer.

I'll at least get a teaser video out pretty quick though.

Good times, sir. I bet you got a lot of looks, and stirred up conversations easily with ppl.

I don't understand the gripes about the interior. I hear the same stuff about the Evo and the STI. The car isn't about soft touch, ultra high quality materials on the dash. It is essentially a modern homoligation special. As a driver if the materials I touch in the car i.e. seats, wheel, shifter, pedals are all good materials and ergonomic I am happy. At the end of the day this is a Ford Focus not a Porsche or an Audi. It's been said that if you are more inclined to worry about refinements and want a hot hatch the Golf R is the way to go.

I'm personally excited to see the Focus RS finally in the US. Awesome hot hatch.

Silver Cervy 06-16-2016 01:41 PM

I freaking love that car. The last gen RS was by far my favorite hot hatch.

Pretty sweet that you got to meet Matt as well.

Idiot Australian News Calls Ford Focus RS 'Illegal'

Is the "drift" mode really that scary for you mate? lol

I'm happy we finally got the Focus RS after we've been begging for this car for a decade. The aftermarket seem to be embracing this car already.

It just irks me that someone could pay upwards of $40k for a hot hatch that looks like $20k on the inside. Hopefully its fun enough to drive that its distracting--which is the point of the car anyways, right?

Yes. It's the exact same as the ST, aside from some stitching, badges, and a couple sections of alcantara. It's the same with the STI to the WRX to the Impreza. At the end of the day, these are just hopped up economy cars - and the interiors reflect that.

I'm just anxiously awaiting the videos of people wrapping these cars around poles and trees using the "drift mode"
