What's the best seat for a stupid tall, fat guy?
A buddy of mine wants to know. He's six five, three & a quarter.
|
How fat? er wide? Usually american seats are on the wider side. Kirkley BIG BOYhttps://www.kirkeyracing.com/product...AYBACK-BIG-BOY
They aren't too comfortable though. |

Tell you what, that thing looks like it has the potential to make an excellent shell for a custom job. |

Sparco Evo II US or Evo III?
The Evo II says medium/tall; the Evo II US just says large. http://www.sparcousa.com/product/evo-ii-us |

evo3 or evo xl
Need to find out his width, not just waist size. Some guys are all stomach and no hips. At bigger sizes seats don't scale too well with waist size. Also with bigger sizes you run in to issues with the shoulder bolster hitting the door panel. Might need to trim it. And the shoulder harness holes might be too low if he has a long back. |
Sti seats?...>__>

Long back & wide shoulders. Not above a custom bucket if that's what it takes. I've just never done this. So, that's what the 21" measurement is? I see where this could become a challenge. I mostly want to get lower and still comfy. Otherwise, I like the stock seat. 12 hours, no problem. edit: just noticed the custom section of their website. I see the light. |
The Evo is a fixed back seat. The seating angle might be too steep for your head to clear the roof, especially with a helmet.
|
The Recaro Profi SPG also comes in XL. Still a fixed back seat. It's side mount, so it can sit lower than a bottom mount.
https://www.recaro-automotive.com/us...iberglass.html Keep in mind that in the event of a rollover, if you're in a fixed back seat the roof will collapse and the seat will not, which means your head probably will when the roof hits it. It might be worth looking for a reclinable seat. |
An idea for tall guys is to get a higher angle seat back and lean the seat back and elevate the legs, so the legs are elevated(and bent) creating a more angles to stuff that big body in there. Gives more room for a helmet. Steering wheel distance may be compromised though.
