Update: Just added a brief How-To for a rear view camera install:

http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=157

I will be adding pics and whatever I do to it here. It's the fourth, won't be doing much today! :)

I did get one little bitty rock chip on the way home. Not sure what I'm going to do about it if anything. Probably just do the Opti-Coat right over it. I may put in some of my LED's this afternoon though.

I put about 360 miles on it coming home, varied as much as I could on the interstate and a bunch of back roads, nearly took out one antelope and a hundred or so suicidal birds. Miraculously they all missed.

Even on the HWY this car is fun, it's a bit louder than I expected but not bad at all. The suspension is like a roller coaster. It eats up the bumps without much problem, but on the dips in the road it tells you straight up "I'm following the road, you can join me if you'd like" then there's the YIPPY!!!! moment as you drop with it, love that!

The speakers are unbearable to me, just horrible even after tweaking the EQ. Will be replacing those promptly. What kills me, even dropping the base as low as possible, certain songs' base lines still seem to get passed through the filters and the door speakers make a "Why don't you join me in HELL!!!!" sorta noise, like it's trying to do some boomy base, but just can't come close.

I didn't take of the fuel door sticker as the dealer was pretty sure it would have been scratched up at the port. It's not as bad as I thought, but I don't think I want it still. Weighing my options at this point on whether I should try to take it off. I will be leaving the rear bumper applique on though, it's not very noticeable and I'll just Opti-Coat around it so it will still protect from scratches and what-not until it falls off.

Chucked the kids in last night when I got home. My 6 year old daughter just curls up on the seat behind me since there is NO leg room as I'm 6'2" and the seat is all the way back. My 9 year old boy fits comfortably in the back with my wife in the passenger seat, though he does complain about his feet being under the seat. Too bad for them, it's not their car and I don't want them in it!

Overall, very impressed, it's exactly what I expected and even though it cost $500 or so more than my pre-order, I'm happy with a few of the options, and that I got it 3-4 months earlier!

Edit: July 5

Removed the Subaru and BRZ badges from the back, they were pissing me off for some reason. The trunk back is so small, I couldn't see enough of the wonderful GBS!!! I've also installed LED's in the LP, trunk, and door courtesy positions. Awaiting all the LED's I ordered for the Turn/Reverse/Fog/Map/Visor positions.

Also I attached a few shots, it was raining today :( along with the LED's and the little chip I got on the way home.

Pics before Opti-Coat, Polished with Chemical Guys P40. There were a few minor scratches that didn't come completely out. I didn't really feel up to doing a stronger polish to get rid of them since they are nearly impossible to see. I was worried I'd do more harm than good. used Goo-Gone for all the gunk from the protective film, and did two wipes with 91% IPA. Don't know why everyone does this diluted, that always leaves streaks for me.

Opti-Coated! This was actually a PIA. I had all kinds of silly little issues compared to when I did my Sentra. Big thing if you want to do this yourself....be patient! It was probably around 90 degrees in the garage but very low humidity, I was expecting the stuff to flash quicker than it did, so I did a light wipe with the MF towel, then a minute later saw bits that hadn't flashed. Took a few tries to get it right. And of course the more you stare at your paint the more you think you see defects. Glad my wife was there to smack some sense into me as I went along. The light sucked at the end of the day and as you can see in the rear shot, we have a lot of smoke. There is generally a very large mountain visible in the distance! ;)

What a beauty! LOVE that shot with the windmills! Would you mind linking to a full res one so I can use it as a wallpaper?

Welcome to the GBS mafia. Snacks are in the foyer, help yourself to some wine while you're in there.

Edit: to prevent a double post...is the title of the thread the production number of your BRZ?

Actually I was screwing around in Photoshop with the original pictures I took. I took the paint pickup tool thing and started clicking all over the car. GBS has sooooooooooo many shades in it, I picked one that looked like it was in the middle, and made the hex code my title. Production number was 1478.

I'll get you the full size windmill pic in a sec. My wife is a photographer, she may charge you ;)

Hah! that's an interesting story about the thread title. It's true about the GBS too, it looks slightly different every time I see it...I love when certain lights hit it just right and it looks like there's just a little healthy amount of purple in the paint.

Excellent write-up, shots, and BRZ... the sock and sandal combo killed me every time though
